Back stage tour confirmations

We have booked a few backstage tours for our Christmas trip (these will be my first tours) and have been given confirmation numbers over the phone which I have made a note of. But do Disney send out written confirmations for the tours as well or do we just go with our ID and confirmation number? The reason I ask is that on our last trip our friends had booked a back stage tour through their DVC agent. They had a confirmation number which they had fortunately had emailed to them from their DVC agent. When they arrived for the tour they were not on the CM's list and when the CM checked they didn't have a record of their confirmation number. Luckily they were allowed on the tour as they had their confirmation on paper and there was room on the tour for them.
So I guess I am just worrying for no reason. But can I get written confirmation (via snail mail or email) from Disney for my tours?

The only time we got a written confirmation was on our past trip - and then all it was was a list of all of our PS times and tour times with confirmation numbers from our Platinum Plan planner (similar to what you get when you stay CL I think). But that was once out of 3 trips with tours booked, and we never had a problem. It couldn't hurt to call and ask for written confirmation however if it will give you peace of mind Have a great trip!
