Has anyone stayed in handicapped room # 7138?? :( I am very nervous as it it in the very very back of the boat! We stayed in a "regular" room on the last cruise , but it was terrible with DS's wheelchair. We did not have any trouble with motion sickness on the first cruise but now we are worried because we are so far in the back?? Will we feel a lot of movement?? Do you hear the engines?? :( Has anyone stayed in one of the aft rooms on deck 7??? How was it??? Thanks for any info!!

We were on our way to the deck 7 aft area on the Magic, and the room hostess for that room had the door open so we peeked in there and they are huge, will not be a problem for your sons wheelchair, we were surprised with the size and thats when the hostess told us it was a handicapped room, it has plenty of room for all. Hope this helps.

We stayed in room 7632 on one of our 7-day cruises. Although it is not a handicapped room, it is only two doors away from them. We did not find the motion in that area of the ship to be better or worse. AND--we actually enjoyed being in the back of deck 7 because of the "secret" deck being nearby, and there is a great hidden staircase in the back of the boat that leads into Topsiders!

We took some photos in that room (I have a photo of the bathroom on my website at www.castawayclub.com in the bathroom photo section to illustrate the roll-in shower). It looked like there would be PLENTY of space. I personally love being aft...you can hear the engines, but not very much...it is more like white noise, which lulls me to sleep. I am typically on Deck 5...being up on deck 7, you probably will hear even less.

We were in cabin 8600 which is aft on deck 8 no real problem with motion at all, in fact our second cruise we again chose aft cabin 8102. We did not have any engine noise, just a little from topsiders, (moving chairs) but you won't have that problem. Enjoy your cruise.

We have stayed in 8602 which is as far aft as you can go on Deck 8. I am very suseptible to motion sickness. I never noticed much motion any where on the ship. I would take this room in a heartbeat if I had the opportunity.

Dan, his mom, and I were in room#7636 starboard side last sept. It was a handicapped room. It was HUGE and came with a HUGE metal verandah(2 lounge chairs/2chairs/and a side table)--big enough to hold a party on. The room itself was large enough to park a very very small car in it and still be able to walk around it.
The bathroom was huge and you can roll a wheelchair right in it.
As for room 7138 --we were invited to go in our cabin neighbors room #7638. #7638 is just as big as our room or maybe a little bigger, it had a very large walk-in closet and the bathroom was huge also. They had plenty of living space also with the 2 children and 2 adults in the room. #7636 had a large (wide) metal verandah also but not as large as ours. The movement was minimal from side to side movement but at times(not often) you could feel the up and down movement because you were so far back. As for noise it was minimal also except when maneuvering at port or when the captain increased/decreased the speed of ship.
Of the three times we cruise on Disney I do have to say room #7636 was the best.

Tell me more about the hidden staircase. Where do you access it? Does it lead directly to Topsiders or are there stops on each flight (deck 8)?

We loved the room. It was very spacious. Plenty of room for a wheelchair. The closet was huge. We just put the wheelchair in there when not in use and it was great. I don't remember feeling too much motion, but it was our first cruise and really have nothing to compare with. The only problem with being in the back was being so far away from the elevators (not to mention everything else). You don't realize how incredibly long the ship is until your pushing a wheelchair up and down those long, narrow hallways. The extra big verhanda was a big plus and on the Castaway Cay morning we opened up the curtains and had a spectacular view of the whole island since the ship backs into the dock there. If you have any questions, let me know.:)

The "hidden" staircase isn't really hidden... it's just not marked on any maps of the ship. And there are no elevators back there... just the stairs.

On our last cruise we were in cabin 7626 and I peeked into the
large handicapped room which I am guessing is 7630something.
It was about 5 or 6 cabins down from ours. Equivalent to..I am guessing your 7138.... It was a very nice cabin..big...lots of room, etc. But like Norm said it is a verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy long hallway even to the aft elevators. I suggested that they put in a moving sidewalk..like they have in airports....lol By the time we'd get off the elevators..I'd have my shoes off!!!

We didn't notice the motion in the back any more than we did
when we were forward or midships.

You will love this cabin.

Thank you all for the information!!! I now feel at ease about being in the back of the ship. I am sure a new "Fear" will replace this one:( as I tend to get nervous about the "little details") 511 days until the trip....boy, that sounds really depressing....Thanks again for all the great and informative posts!
