BACK in the DAY......

I think I still have it, but back in the same time frame that MMouse37 posted the brochures for, they use to give you a physical ticket for dinner and excursions. It looked like a ticket that you would get from say ticketmaster. Im almost positive I still have 1 of mine. Ill have to try and remember to look when I get from work tom.

Who could forget the live animals in the lounge before sail away on the Big Red Boat? Lucaya was one of our favorite ports. It was cool to stop at the island where some of Gilligan's Island was filmed.

Does anyone remember the mountain of surveys that Disney requested before DCL was announced to the public?

Very interesting, and would you recommend for all those that like DCL that haven't tried the Magic, to do so while they still can in the next few years?

One of the popular theories right wrong or indifferent says the Magic will let be retired when the new ships come in.

Or maybe it will be moved to home port in another country maybe..? I've heard people wondering if they would keep a ship in Asia though I admit I have no idea how feasible that would be, much less how credible. ;)

Usually when a line tries something new, like say an Asian market, they'll send a smaller ship out to test the waters so to speak. That leave the Magic and Wonder. Eventually well see a ship run an Asian test, but I don't think youll see it in the next 4 years or so. The Magic is pretty much committed to Europe, with the Wonder in Alaska. DCL has been dabbling here and there with southern Caribbean itins, and I think youll see that first before Asia. Theres a lot of islands DCL has either been to 1 or 2 times or not at all.

Just looking at DCLs past, they sent the Magic to Europe, skipped a year then went back. Each time shes there longer or different itins. I could see a Dream class ship replace her, and the Magic either go to Miami or Ftl for deeper Caribbean trips. It can be done going as far south as Aruba and Bonaire in 8 days out of Miami. I think even out of PC. All depends but that's a different thread.

That Big Red Boat was not that big looking back, LOL!

My wife and I took our Honeymoon on the Big Red boat, December 1987. Did four nights WDW followed by the cruise. And your right, it was not very big. As soon as we left the safety of the harbor the ship was bobbing around like a cork. Sorry for the visual picture but; it didn't take very long for barf bags to line all the railing, and people to grab them and use them, and garbage bags being filled with them and people turning different shades of color hanging onto them as the stumbled in the hallways. The dining room was well over half empty first night. Woke up docked in Nassau and people took a quick turn for the better. They stayed in port the second night because the wind didn't let up. Our last day, a full day at sea was the only perfect day. Wind let up and the sun was out.

This was our first cruise and we were still hooked, cruise number 10 coming up.
