Hello, we just got back from DLRP and thought we would do the customary highs and lows :)

Highs

Disneyland Hotel Amazing! This was our second stay in the DLH and it was just as good as the first (in February this year). We had a lovely view over the park entrance and could see the Christmas tree on Main street from our room (We could just about see the Castle when it was lit up as it was hidden by trees!)

Walts We ate here on Sunday, we were given a window seat in the Adventureland room and the food was very nice, we both had the set menu with the sirloin steak which was slightly fatty but very tasty.

Studios tour We did the Disneyland Park tour in Feb so decided to do the Studios tour this time, we had a really nice guide who knew lots about the park and was very enthusiastic about Disney! I am going to do a trip report so will talk a bit more about this tour during that but feel free to ask any questions about it.

Chicago Steakhouse The Steakhouse is always on our to-do list as we love the food, however the service can be sometimes lacking. We had no idea that as Cafe Mickey was closed the character dining had been transferred to the Steakhouse, it was a great surprise though! We have never really bothered with character dining before but it was lots of fun, the characters kept sneaking up on me as I was sat with my back to them and it made the meal so much more fun :)

Cast members As usual the vast majority of CMs were really friendly and helpful so :thumbsup2 to them. They were really helpful with Katy and her Special Access Pass which made all the difference when it came to queueing (apart from when our reservations coincided with some attractions breaking down, such as Buzz and Thunder Mountain)
This is BTM after it was evacuated after getting stuck... again!

Earl of Sandwich Awesome! We ate here for a quick snack twice and it was so good! Highly recommend the Full Montagu!

Duffy We both love Duffy now, we bought a petit Duffy from the DLH shop on Sunday and he is so soft and lovely. We met him with Mickey on Wednesday and got a photo with him, the interaction was great. We collected whatever we could with his name on it, the adoption certificates were given with both the teddy and the pin.

The Castle The Castle looks fantastic, the refurb has done a world of good and we kept remarking how nice it looks. The castle as well as the stonework looks great, we didn't think we would be able to tell but it's obvious in a good way!

Lows

Rain It was very wet on Sunday night, very wet indeed. It also rained on and off on Tuesday and Wednesday. It didn't really matter much though, we just dodged it and went on Buzz/POTC or IASW!

Charge card goings on We tried to use the charge card on Tuesday and it didn't work, when we asked at the hotel they said that a new charge card had been issued in my name and that the old one had been blocked. I hadn't asked for this to happen and the CM at the DLH looked pretty worried and kept asking me to check my credit card on-line for any suspicious activity. Suffice to say this was pretty worrying, they didn't know what had happened or why. They blocked the rogue charge card (which had a balance of 0.00 fortunately) and we couldn't use the charge card again. We had no apology that this happened and despite the obvious worry of the CM who repeatedly to check my credit card they never followed up with any more information. :confused3 We are going to write a letter of complaint about this situation but it was quite worrying.

Glad you had a good time. What a great view :D

We love the Steakhouse :D

Love that you included pictures in your highs and lows :)

Welcome back! Glad there was lots more highs than lows :thumbsup2 I would be interested in doing a park tour as never done this before - could you please let me know how you go about booking this and how much it is? Thanks :goodvibes

Both the Studio and the Disneyland Park guided tours cost 15 euros for adults, with a 5 euro single adult supplement and you can use shareholders discount on the tours. Children under 12 are free with a paying adult. We booked the Disneyland Park tour at City Hall back in Feb and we were told we needed to book the Studios tour in Studio Services. However we didn't feel like walking all the way over to the other park just to book a tour so we asked the concierge at the DLH and she booked it for us. The tours last approx 90 minutes. I will do a brief review of the tour in my trip report :) Oh and you get an exclusive pin on both tours if that appeals!

obviously apart from the lows, sounds like you had a great holiday!

I'm super jealous of your view :thumbsup2

It was a great holiday :) the lows were more of an annoyance than anything!

The view was lovely, funnily enough we were almost exactly opposite the room we were in last time as we had a view over the Exit that time and could see Inventions. This time we could see the Entrance and the California Grill!

Duffy? who's duffy? we never seen that on our trip in june.

Duffy is a new character to DLRP, he has been around for some time in both WDW and TDR. In his current guise he is a teddy that Minnie made for Mickey as he was going away on a sea voyage, so she made him a teddy to keep him company. He now has a meet and greet with Mickey, has pretty much taken over half the Storybook Store and is in a few of the shops. He is somewhat controversial as he has never appeared in a Disney film, so some see him as a marketing ploy to get money! We like him though, his back story shows the Disney touch and he has lots of little details :)

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I want to get back to my beloved DLP soon :(

I want to go back already and we are looking at a 20th anniversary trip; we can't miss it, we went for the 15th. Although we were all set to book a trip to Tokyo/TDR this past year before the tsunami, so we need to make up our minds about it all!

Thanks everyone :)

I see the Duffy invasion of DLP is now complete. But when does the Shellie May invasion begin? :rotfl2:
