We left on 8/13 and came back on 8/21. This is our first family trip to WDW during the summer. The crowds were totally manageable and lines weren't bad (thanks to our knowledge that fast passes don't expire). However, it was HOT!!! I never complain about the heat but in this weather I was a whiny baby. Sweat was constantly dripping down my back and into my shorts. We swam more on this trip than we ever did before and spent nearly an entire day at TL.
It was an awesome trip though. I really splurged on gifts for myself. At Arribas Brothers, I bought a crystal studded business card holder with the mouse himself in the center. I can't wait to pull that one out at a business meeting. My cell phone has a strap with a crystal Mickey head on the end.
I bought Mickey shaped egg forms, mickey ice cube tray and mickey kitchen towel that I must have liked so much that I bought it twice.
Oh, I almost forgot. We ran into the Disney Tattoo guy at the British Invasion concert. Does that count as running into someone famous? We walked past him and I told my husband that he was the Disney tatoo guy. He said "How can you tell?". Yes, he was serious. "Duh", I said. "Take a look."
All in all a terrific trip one of which will never be duplicated because we'll never go in the summer again.

Ooh, I forgot to mention, we were upgraded to a water view at BC. Every time we've stayed there we get upgraded! I thought for sure our luck couldn't hold out this time but it did.

LOL - I've done that before!

Yep- been there in summer - it sure is drippy sweaty hot! once you get used to it it's not so bad, and honestly, VA is 90++ and 90% humidity, so it's not but so much cool than FL anyways LOL

My brother lives in Las Vegas - where it's over 100 most of the summer. When he first moved there, everyone would say "yeah, but it's a dry heat" His response: "So is my oven." LOL

Glad you guys had fun!!!

Sounds like a fun (though hot) trip, siouxi31, nice to see you back!! I have been there in late June, last year, that was enough for me. :faint: And how neat on that upgrade again. :goodvibes

I will NOT do WDW in July or August......my 2 year old just can't handle it (neither can his parents! ) but my 11 year old could go in melting temps or subzero temps! :p

Glad ya'll had a great time. :wave2:

You weren't sitting at a little table outside Beaches ad Cream midday Thursday were you?

We always go in summer and yes, it's hot! And humid and rainy and miserable, and we LOVE it! :sunny: You can so appreciate the pools and waterparks in summer. :teeth:

Glad you enjoyed yourself and splurged a little. :sunny:

Hi Jenny, No, I wasn't sitting at a table outside of Beaches & Cream but I was looking for you on those days when we were at the pool, in the lobby or in the store. I'm sorry that I never ran into you.

So glad that you and your family had a great time! I will not go in the summer just for the reason you said, the Heat! The Heat bothers me alot, Fall is a very nice time to go! Now what did ya bring me back? :rotfl:

Glad you had a great time in spite of the heat. We go to Disney in June so definetly know what that heat is like!! It does make the pool time special!!! :)

I live here and I haven't gone up to the parks since the end of May. I learned my lesson at Cypress Gardens a few weeks ago. It was only mid morning and after about an hour I thought I was going to spontaneously combust!

It took me about 25 minutes to get home and I had the car a/c on full blast the entire ride. I was still sweating when I walked in my front door.

Umm, no thanks. I'll wait until it cools off a bit.

We were there from Aug 9 - Aug 23, and it was the 3rd August we've gone down, and BY FAR the hottest. Very little rain, but much higher heat and humidity. I was swearing it was the last August trip. We'll see. ;)

Jenny, Dave enjoyed meeting you and your SO at the airport! I was hoping to meet you at the Orlando airport, but you weren't at baggage claim...did you do Magical Express?

I did... Had I realized you would be at Baggage claim,I would have gone over there

So glad you had so much fun! I don't know if I'd be able to handle that heat. That is why when we go we fight the crowds during Spring break.

We've done May, June, July and September (next year is August...), and by far (and I do mean a HUGE difference) the hottest we've ever been was the May trip. We happened to hit a heat wave (which was predicted to last two weeks!), and we had that drippy sweaty thing going on at NIGHT! Anyway, August no longer scares me.
