It was amazing. We had no problems at all with the front desk staff. They were very friendly, answered all questions, and were all smiles. Heard the first welcome home from the guard when she gave us our parking pass, and heard another from the lady at the front desk after she checked us in. The next morning (early, before sun up) there was a message on our phone from the woman who checked us in, once again welcoming us home. Every person we encountered who worked there was extremely friendly. The atmosphere was great. We were able to be flag family yesterday, our check out day. However due to weather we only got to go up on the roof, not raise the flags. But at least we were able to see the view, and the cast member who took us up, Bruce, was telling us all kinds of Disney trivia and pointing out all types of things. I got a straight answer out of him that they closed River Country because it was getting harder to keep the RC water out of Bay Lake. They never had a problem with Bay Lake water getting into RC. They also closed because it was expensive to operate, and really old so maintenance was getting up there.
As for our villa and stay. We had villa 4552, a dedicated 2 bedroom, about 2 doors from the very end of the hallway, overlooking the service road and bus stop. However, with the woods out the door we were able to see 3 deer running around our first morning there, which totally made up for the rest of the view. And the view really wasn't all that bad. We could see the main lodge from our balcony. We couldn't see that dreaded dumpster, but we did see the trash truck come empty it, so we were close. But we still loved our villa. Everything was in great shape. The beds were not exactly comfortable, but I was so tired that I didn't notice.
We spent most of our swimming time in the quiet pool. The main pool was beyond crowded. There were days when there wasn't a single inch of space in that pool. The quiet pool was great, however, and we did get into the main pool Saturday evening. We loved the hot tubs; they were just about the right temperature (until we got sunburned of course). We rented a pontoon boat on Friday afternoon and went out on Bay Lake and Seaven Seas Lagoon for a half an hour. We all (including my grandparents) thoroughly enjoyed it. We watched the geyser go off at 7 am two mornings in a row, with the sun coming up behind it over the lake. We used all possible modes of transportation, and were satisfied with it all, but we do wish they still had the bus to the TTC. We made good use of our refillable mugs, which I promise will never return to WDW. We were happy with Roaring Fork. My mom and stepdad also ate at Artist Point, and were pleased with the food, but felt that way too many parents had the itty bitty kids in there way too late. But that's a parenting issue, and not exactly the resort's fault. We did not eat at WCC. The main lobby was absolutely stunning, even more amazing than the pictures I had seen, and even though I'd sworn I wouldn't let the jaw drop when I walked in, I did. It was amazing.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and will not hesitate to stay there again. Loved the resort. However, I think we're going to try for BCV next, just for something different.
