Back from the World: The Answers you Asked For

Sounds like you had a great time. We were there in May, going in July, September and October. I enjoy seeing the how much the keepd growing and changing. Hopefully when we go in July the Turf Club will be open.

Did they give you a time frame on the completion of the turf club or the next pool?

Where would rate the EE, is it comparable RRC, SM or TRR?

Finding Nemo show has pretty much been comfirmed on the other website, (didn't know I was going to be censured so I can't post its name) and is replacing Tarzan Rocks; I'm sure going to miss Tarzan, as it was one of our favorite stage shows.

...Nice that you thought about Rich.

I didn't realize "Fred's tombstone" was the one - I'll try to remember for next time...

Thanks for the report.

Sorry, but no. If you are familiar with the 'quiet' pools at SSR, they have a separate building that houses the towel, restrooms and the free laundry (for studio guests). In this case, it will also house a 'bar' and food service location.

Thanks Much! ;)

As noted, the construction by EE is the enclosing of the "Tarzan Rocks" theatre. Nothing 'official' about it being for Nemo.

Turf Club: they are hoping for late July. The dining area looked almost ready, but it's hard to tell about the kitchen.

SSR Phase 3/Pool: I didn't get to sneak over there (that's Doc's territory ;) ) but this is what I heard: They hope to open the first building and the pool this fall. The last building is supposed to open in early 2007, but right now they are ahead of schedule; but they are concerned about the hurricane season's effect on construction.

3. BCV Carpet Stains. They are there, all right. While they are NOT something that would ruin my vacation - I might not have really noticed them had I not been looking - almost every door we walked by (dozens) in the villas had a half-circle of dark, blotchy stains right in front of the door. If I didn't know better, I'd suspect that people were wiping their feet there - maybe a welcome mat is needed. Once I noticed them, though, I couldn't help but keep on noticing them - looks like some odd design flaw or something, as that was the only areas where we saw stains.

Dr.T , thanks for the updates. The carpet thing has been answered time and again on the Dis. Those circular stains in front of every door are not from people wiping there feet. They are from housekeeping throwing bags of trash in front of the door area for hours on end. The bags sometimes spring a leak and the sludge runs out on the carpet. Those stains have nothing to do with traffic of DVC guests. Any dirt on the shoes is gone long before they hit the room. I've addressed this with DVC and a complete retraining of housekeeping is in order. As for the rest of your stuff , I had a request before you left and apparently it went in one ear and out the other. I requested that you keep quiet and not bug all of the CM's and DVC guides. Instead they were forced to listen how you are the great DrT. from the Dis. I'm sure they were thrilled. Your wife is a saint by the way. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Greetings!

Yes, we're back - and we had a great trip. While I am going to work on a trip report, I wanted to report back on some of the things you folks asked me to look into while I was there.

1. New DVC Resort. Well, I learned a lot. Of primary interest was a conversation with a DVC CM who actually worked in the little office right in one of the villa buildings. I asked point blank about the next DVC Resort, and here's what he said: "A DVC Resort at the CR has been approved, but will not be the next to be implemented." (That's a direct quote). He further said that they don't want to announce anything until they are 100% sure on all the details, as they don't want to disappoint owners who might make plans based on tentative info.

He also said that Jim Lewis attends DVC CM meetings and is always asked "what's the next DVC Resort going to be"; in fact, JL opened one meeting addressing that question before it could be asked. This CM also reads the DIS and said that's why they don't tell Guides/CMs anything, because they love to tell owners and within seconds it's on the internet!

I talked to another CM manning a kiosk on Sunset Blvd at MGM. She didn't have anything to add "to the rumors that are already on the DIS - that's where I get the latest unofficial info." So it seems that many, if not all, DVC CMs are tuned into the DIS!

2. New SSR Pool. We chatted with what appeared to be a manager at SSR's AP/Store (she was dressed in business apparel and said she had to close that night and the next, so I'm assuming management). She said that the new pool will be larger than the quiet pools but smaller than HRS. The pool building is quite large - she said that it will have a bar & serve drinks and have "To Go" food, like AP does. Construction of the last phase is ahead of schedule, but hurricane season has them nervous.

SSR side note 1: This manager was new to SSR (6-9 months), and she said that there are talks about more dining options - that's one of the biggest complaints in guest surveys. She said that the original plans were indeed for SSR guests to avail themselves of DTD dining, but that just wasn't happening, and SSR management folks are pressing for more options.

SSR side note 2: Work on Turf Club Bar and Grill continues - they are pretty much taking over the patio by the docks for this place. I talked to a guy who is going to be a server there when it opens (he's currently at Hollywood & Vine) and he's exited about the new opportunity.

4. DVC Condition. Other than those stains, both BCV and SSR looked great. Even when I went into "white glove mode", nothing looked ratty or worn; at SSR we were in the 4th building that opened (closest to DTD) and even after two years it looked great. In fact, SSR looked great - the landscaping is really growing in nicely, giving much more of a resort-y feel to the place.

5. Expedition Everest: A GREAT ATTRACTION! We rode it twice, and it certainly was a lot of fun; a great mix of roller coaster thrills and Disney magic. It is more in the BTMRR mode than SpaceMtn - a very smooth ride. This is already having an impact on AK - I bet that average-guest-time-in-park is growing longer.

6 & 7. Didn't get to see rinkwide's LaL tile, nor did I get any tater-tots - gives us something to do for next trip.

8. Frogs for greenban. Saw lots of frogs at AK, several AA frogs on SplashMtn and a frog plays a very important part in the HISTA preshow. Also saw many toads one night at SSR - not sure if that counts....

9. MrsTomorrow and I had a brief moment of silence for Rich at Fred's HM tombstone.

Well, that's all the hard facts for now - trip report in the next day or two!

Be well!

I'm flattered that with so many requests you had time for my froggies....

And yes Toads definately count as every Toad is a Frog, but Alas every frog is not a toad.

Also I hate to admit my ignorance but what, pray tell is HISTA (Hi Intensity Saratoga Training & Administration?)

I'm glad your trip went well, and I gonna read Day 1 of your trip report right now!

Thanks as always!

I believe it is Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Thanks for the update Dr.T.

Or is it "Hey, I'm Seeing Things Again!" Especially as related to frogs & toads. :thumbsup2

Don't you just love to reply to your own posts? :smooth:

Doc,

Thanks for checking into these questions. It's great to hear about how these topics are progressing.

As to the next DVC resort, I wonder if Eagle Pines is still in the plans since that was the next DVC to get announced before 9/11. If you remember Eagle Pines was put on hold after 9/11. I'm sure Disney invested money into its plans. No sense letting those plans go to waste. Maybe Eagle Pines then a Contemporary Villas, or how about both at the same time. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I wonder what the new pool will look like. I'm glad to hear they will be adding a pool bar with food service at the new pool. I'm also glad they are going to have more villas with views of the golf course. I can't wait until phase III is finished.

DrT, thanks.

But I think this always has something to do with who you talk to. I asked no less than 5 CM's working at various DVC stores. I asked all of them about when the next DVC was going to be announced and where would it be. All but 1 said that there is no DVC resort in WDW in any planning stage. The 1 said the next DVC would not be around WDW. I personally never know who to believe. We were heading to DTD from MK so we tookt he bus to SSR and I have to admit that the place is huge. They will need that second larger pool in the final phase and another bar.

I totally agree with you; as I said earlier, while I'm not a conspiracy kind of guy, I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least some disinformation (not DIS-information) disseminated by DVC, just to keep everyone hopping (or hoping). I actually chatted with a few more DVC CMs (in resorts and at park kiosks) but only gave the info from the two most reliable-appearing folks. The one gent at the villa mentioned Jim Lewis, knew the latest DIS gossip and said he was an owner himself; the lady at SSR was management of some sort. Not that they are any more correct, but they were at least more credible-sounding.

First, let me welcome you to the DIS - I see this was your first post. I'm honored that you went to all the trouble to register just to insult me - my finely crafted words must have truly moved you! Of course, there's some inconsistancy here - if you just joined, how could you have made a request - but perhaps that's asking for a little too much reasoned thought. And while IMHO a DVC owner chatting with DVC CMs seems to be an appropriate thing (they seemed to welcome it, or at least pretended to), I assure you that my self-image is strong enough so that I don't go around introducing myself by my DIS username (of course, if I did, I expect that the most common reaction would be "Who?" :lmao: ). Finally, in the future, when you refer to me, please get the title correct; it is the Great and Powerful DrTomorrow from the DIS - you know, like OZ! :wizard:

You are correct about one thing, though - my darling wife is indeed a saint, and I'm darned lucky to have her! :lovestruc   :love2:

Be well!

Since this is your first post on the DIS, we can only assume that you are not aware that the Great and Powerful DrTomorrow is a highly respected and admired member of this board. He is too much of a gentleman to point this out himself, so I thought I'd let you know that you are, indeed, on very thin ice (and it melts quick out there!).

Dr T....let me know if you need a place to crash for a while

Me thinks I smell a :clown: troll..... :clown:

However dear Great and Powerful DrTomorrow from the DIS, this new poster does not reach up to the level of the bottom of your toes, thus in no way could he/she/it insult you or the Saintly Mrs. Great and Powerful DrTomorrow from the DIS!

Respectfully,

-Tony

Sounds like the DVC CMs are going to get a really big giggle from seeing themselves referenced on the DIS! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the great report and your grand finale. It's been great! :thumbsup2
