Back From The Pop-Won't Be Returning

Um, am I missing something :confused3 Pop doesn't have concierge. :confused3

You are absolutely right. Hmmm. Maybe they will explain that one.

I had the same noise issues at AsSports. The buses were fine, except for DTD buses which are bad everywhere. But the noise was really horrendous. I got very little sleep between the flushing & water rushing and the door/drawer slamming topped off by the people outside our door. The only thing I wanted to do at our resort that trip was sleep & I could barely do that. Hence no more value stays for us.

Just got back from a 4 night stay at Pop on Tuesday. Had no noise issues at all. I have heard toilet flushing at all the resorts I've stayed at. My noisiest stay was at the Polynesian!! Go figure. We really liked Pop, and would go again.

A couple of you have stated that you stayed at POP last Dec. Anyone there the week between Xmas and NY's. I booked POP yesterday for that week this year and would like some more info on how the bus service was and food court with the resort being full.

We stayed at POP during that week last year. We had no problems whatsoever. The longest we waited for a bus was 15 minutes from MGM back to POP on New Year's Eve.

However, the buses were full each time and we gave up our seats a few times, but we were totally expecting that because of the busy time of year.

The food courts were busy, but not oppressively so. The food was really good. I'm a vegetarian, my daughter is semi-vegetarian and my husband is a hard-core carnivore. The food court had enough variety to please all of us.

Our room was in the 70's building, top floor, lake side. We had no noise issues at all. We were able to watch the Epcot fireworks from outside our room.

Just go and have a good time. Expect crowds and plan accordingly. I'm so excited for you guys! :Pinkbounc

Thanks Melissa-I didn't request a bldg., but did request a top floor, in a quiet area (if possible). I'm very curious to hear those toilets flush. I can't wait to "hear" what all the hype has been about.

we had the BEST stay at the POP and in fact are going back in October. we even stayed at POFQ for half of our stay last year and regret ever moving. we had great service all the way! sorry you had a bad stay but we didn't encounter any of those problems at all.

Just wondering why this thread was revived from the dead...hmmm...I remember reading this thread months ago.

We love the ASMo and would recommend that as the Value choice over the Pop. I don't know if the sheer size of the Pop is responsible for many of the
missteps lodgers have posted here on the board, but sometimes bigger is not better. Our family feels the value resorts are the way to go, but we're not interested in moving "on up" to the Pop for some of the very reasons you've stated. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We love POP and have ressies for a long weekend in October and one in November. We had absolutely no problems or dislikes EXCEPT for the noise--minimal plumbing noises, but lots of kids running and shouting past our room at all times of the late night and early morning. All the footfalls and shouting really reverberated against the hard surfaces at POP. Next time we will request a room away from the elevators.

(Deja vu....I think I already responded to this thread! :sunny: )

I posted this back in Feb. and I stick by every word still!

I've got my flame retardant undies on and here I go. :firefight . Ok, let me first say that it is true what I have heard about staying at Old Key West... "Once you stay there, you don't want to go anywhere else" True, so so true! I just got back from a 5 day stay at Pop Century! All I can say is that either I am WAAAY to SPOILED or I am just a . princess: I guess I'm not used to standing on the bus no matter what time you get on them. Don't get me wrong, the busses ran frequently, but they were standing room only. As for the walk to get on the busses, holy cow ! We were in Georgia I think, or maybe it was the 80's building, yea the 80's. It took us 25 years to get to the busses, food court or even the ice machine. I did buy the refillable mug, I was just too tired to go back to the food court to refill it! The wake up call was housekeeping every morning @ 7:55am sharp. Not that I had to get out of bed to open the door and ask them to come back later, all I did was roll over and open the door. It was only 2 of us in the room, thank God! I cannot imagine 4 people fitting in there :earseek: . On a better note, the Pina Coldas by the Hippity Dippity pool were pretty good. :drinking1
The parks were great! My daughter's band was OUTSTANDING, we did have a good time when we were in the parks! I ate at O'hanas for the first time and now I'm hooked! It was sooooo good! I loved the pineapple and carmel sauce! YUM YUM! I also rode the Haunted Mansion for the first time at night! That was cool!

When we stayed at Pop I enjoyed it. I didn't notice the bad plumming, but I can sleep through anything...

You know what I don't get? I don't get what people mean when they say "I am a deluxe (or moderate)-kinda gal/guy"...what does that mean?
Like I've said before-we only use the rooms to shower & sleep. Why spend more
$$$ on moderates or deluxes???? We stayed at CBR last year & did not like all
the bus stops within the resort. I will not stay there again for that reason. Staying at POP in April & CANT WAIT!!!!! Btw-went away for work last week & the Hampton Inn that I stayed at-you could hear toilets flushing & showers(surprise surprise). I think you hear them no matter where you are & I think some people make it a point to hear these things & point them out. :cool1:

We stayed at POP in May 05 - and granted we did hear the flushing water(it was so loud that is kept us from sleeping -my husband is a light sleeper and it didn't bother him at all) - the resort itself was great. And if you are booking a value resort - thats just what it is. Some of us can't afford to go to a moderate or deluxe resort everytime we visit. We can only visit every two years because we need to save up the money to go - the only reason we are going again this year is because of the value resorts. We figure its just a place to sleep - its clean and cool. We had a great experience at POP and are going to stay there again in May 06.
