::MickeyMo Although we had an excellent vacation, we really didn't enjoy our resort too much. We decided to stay at a value resort because last year we stayed at POR and all we did was sleep there. We didn't even go in the pool. Next time we'll spend the extra money to get either a moderate or deluxe resort. The resort certainly has it's good points, like the theme, cleanliness, and large selection in the food court, but it's also noisy, big, and has less than stellar bus service. Waiting 45 minutes for a bus is not acceptable. There should be more than 1 bus stop for a resort with more than 2000 rooms. I hope they'll be adding buses and bus stops once the other 3000 rooms are built. The room size was perfectly fine for 2 adults. No problem with space. Also, the Pop bus stop is always like, the last stop at the parks. Not a fun trek when you're tired. You could be at the Contemporary by the time you walk to the bus stop at MK. Our first mousekeeper forgot to leave clean towels one day. Fine. Everyone makes mistakes, but I think all she did was make the bed. No dusting, vaccuuming, etc. We had a different mousekeeper midway through and she was excellent. Like I've heard in other reviews, the plumbing is loud. At first I thought it was an exaggeration, but then I witnessed it myself. Hearing someone shower at 6:30am is not fun. I've read that many people really liked the Pop and I sincerely wanted to be one of them, but it just wasn't meant to be. ::MinnieMo

Pop isn't my favorite either. I agree about the plumming. Our baby woke up every time someone flushed a toilet. We stayed at All-star Movies the other weekend. Our room was pleasantly quiet there. Had an over better experience there.

I think at resorts like Pop- where there's one bus stop and they don't share w/another resort- the wait can seem longer at the bus stop.

At Pop you might wait at the bus stop for 30 mins- the bus comes- and goes straight to the park.

At another resort like CBR you wait at the bus stop but then you have to wait for it to stop at all the other busstops at the resort and then go to the park.

Or at CR for example the bus would stop at Poly and GF before going to the parks.

So the transportation time might be the same at the other resorts but it doesn't seem as long b/c you are on the bus going to different stops versus waiting at the busstop at Pop. That's my theory- hope it makes sense. :flower:

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Pop. The one thing that I didn't like was the bus stop locations at the parks. You're right about it being the last stop. The walk to and from the stop at Epcot was horrible. I'm hoping for a closer stop for POFQ in December.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good time at POP. I went fairly recently and didn't encounter any of those problems.

Stayed at the Pop Century once and it was great! We didnt have any noise concerns and honestly I dont remember the whole flushing thing. My only complaint was teh bus service (I still wish they would just get over the whole deluxe/moderate/value and put Monorails ALL over WDW) so for that reason alone I dont think Id want to stay at Pop again. Im spoiled too, im a deluxe kinda guy but if we wanted to do a quick vakay, pop would be up there, though im really wanting to try POFQ.

Port Orleans is beautiful! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

::MickeyMo Well, we stayed at PO last year. Never had a problem with the buses. I understand what you're saying about other stops, but we never had that problem. The stop we were at and that was closest to us, happened to be the last to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. We never had to wait long for the bus to arrive and always had a seat. It was never crowded. I guess we got spoiled there. ::MinnieMo

::MickeyMo We were going to stay there but when we called to book it, the CM convinced us to switch to the Pop because it was newer and cleaner and it wouldn't be as noisy (HA!) and blah blah blah. Next time I'm sticking with my decision! We were ify about trying a value resort after this past experience, but maybe we'll go for an All-Star Resort. Thanks for the info! ::MinnieMo

We loved the ASMo, but want to try POP, but maybe I will rethink that and stick with the ASMo.

i was considering staying there 3 days prior to cruise, i may rethink that now

The last time we were at the CR, it only stopped at the Poly. Keep in mind that everyone says the CR is not that greatly themed, but it's the FIRST stop coming and going. Can't be that. And, before the bus even gets to MK, I have walked back to my room at the CR. It is sooooo worth the extra money. We love it. Hoping we are going to like the BC this summer.....

Mom and I loved our stay at Pop. We have had Mousekeeping issues every place on site we have stayed.

Does anyone else think they could launch the space shuttle with one toilet flush from a Disney Resort? Those things had to be designed by NASA!

PS....maybe one reason we didn't have a prob a Pop...it was between Thanksgiving and Christmas and we never took the bus :)

We have stayed at the Pop Century, POFQ, POR, SOG, BCV and GF. To me the one with the best bus service was the Pop Century. I figured on their stops at the parks being one of the furthest. Seems that's what they do with the newer value resorts - put them on the ends.

i just stayed at pop may 11-16 and didnt have any of those problems..id rather stay at moderate, but were staying at pop again in sept

We're staying at Pop for the first time in October. We stayed at Caribbean Beach our very first trip (with a 2-1/2 year old), but have stayed at values (ASMu and ASMo) every since (with 2 kids, ages 7 and 4 and then 10 and 7). For us, it pretty much comes down to staying at a value, or not going to Disney at all. Needless to say, we don't have many problems with the values! :earsboy: I've read many positive things about Pop on this board and think we'll be fine - I can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

I'm sorry you didn't have the best accomodations this time - we're right there with you on your exp with Pop, won't be returning.

We're staying at Pop a week from tomorrow for our first visit. I sure hope its wonderful! Not so much for us because I'm very easy going and can deal with whatever, but we're traveling with another family who has never been to WDW and I want it to be great for them.

I'm sorry you weren't happy with all aspects of Pop!

If youre a family thats going to use your car and not WDW transportation to get around, then Pop is still a front runner for a fun family resort. The pool was fun, the pool bar was great, the staff was amazing, and the place it self is just fun. Im not a breakfast guy, but when I walked in the food court for breakfast I HAD to eat there...it was just good. Theres nothing wrong with Pop Century at all, there are just little things that people need to pick on which is ok. For me, transportation is a big deal, we dont drive around because we're usually out drinking, thats why Epcot and MK resorts are for us! :p
