We had lots of fun. This was our first year doing it at DL, but we used to go every year when it was at DCA.
It was a lot more crowded than the DCA parties, but it was manageable. We got into the parks at about 4:30, got a locker, and ate dinner. We finished dinner right before 6, and headed over to see Mickey and Minnie. We got into the line at 6, and it was already really long. M&M didn't come out right away, and they went on break a couple of times before we made it to the front, so it was 7:00 before we saw them. While we waited, we took turns taking DD through the Treat Trail at Big Thunder Ranch. We each went through twice.
We moved on to Fantasyland, and hit the trail there, and then went over to Tomorrowland and did the Innoventions trail (that one was really cool, and Perry was in there!). When we got out, the line for Space Mtn. was only 20 minutes, so we hopped on that. Then we worked our way up towards Small World and hit the trails on the way. We sort of ran smack into the Cavalcade on accident, so we stopped to watch. Then we went to hit the trail next to the Toontown station, and hopped the train back to Main Street for the fireworks.
After fireworks, we went over to Adventureland and New Orleans Square. Hit the trails all the way back to Splash Mountain, and then went on Haunted Mansion. It was getting close to closing time by then, so we did the trail at Stage Door Cafe and then headed back towards Big Thunder Ranch and did that one more time.
It was 11:00 by then, so we decided to head out. We walked through FL and next to the entrance to the FL trail. The CM at the entrance waved us in and said that there were 5 seconds left until closing, so we went in and he closed the line behind us. We had so much candy at that point, and then we got totally overloaded because we were the last group of the night, so they gave us TONS of candy.
We headed out to Main Street and got the stuff out of our locker (I highly recommend getting a locker, we dumped candy off at ours a few times throughout the night). Also, bring extra bags! We had our DVC reusable shopping bag, and it wasn't enough! The candy fit in there, but it was really heavy, and I thought the bag was going to break. Bring a couple of good sized, sturdy bags!
There were three of us (me, DP, and DD), and we got so much candy. It was insane. We may not even go trick or treating on Halloween because we have too much candy. We hit all of the trails one time, except for BTMR (3 times) and Fantasyland (twice), and we came home and weighed the candy -- it was over 23 pounds of candy.
We also got lots of apples and carrots and (my fav) the apple chips.
I was really hesitant about going. I loved the parties at DCA, but I wasn't sold on going to DL because I knew it would be more crowded and hectic. And it was, but we had a lot of fun. I think this might be our new tradition for Halloween night from now on!
