WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We earned our CD!!!! My feet haven't hit the ground yet. I am
wicked proud of my Dobiegirl!!!!!
We were entered in 2 trials,1 friday(we NQ'd because she popped on the long sit with less than 5 seconds to go!!) and on Saturday. It wasn't her best performance(179) but it was enough
to earn our 3rd leg and CD. I feel such an accomplishment! Young Dobies can be hard to train because they don't really settle down
until they reach about 2 1/2 years old.And if its a male,we're talkin' 3-4 yrs old!!! So,it can be hard for them(and the handler!)
to be focused on training. That's why I am so happy with her.
Tomorrow,we start training for Open A!!!!!!

Congratulations!! Hope she got an extra special treat!!

Love to brag about my dog!
And YES to Doewdw's post, Georgie had her own steak for dinner
for her reward! She earned it!!

STEAK for dinner??? Can I be your dog???? LOL!! Just kidding!!

Hmmm, what should I make for dinner tonight? Steak??

I have no idea what you just said, but I feel congratulations are in order.

Soooo:

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: CONGRTULATIONS :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

:rotfl: OK, I'll make the steak AND the steamed carrots, but the kibble for my family??? that's going a bit too far!!! LOL!!

I can't say too much about the steak for your dobie. My mini-dachshund eats a BARF diet and almost NEVER gets kibble.....LOL!

I'm talking about a dog show where my Doberman received an award/title for completing the Novice level of competitive Obedience. Lotta work, but so worth it!

How great! Congratulations on earning that CD.

That is great! I've shown in obedience and know the thrill you must feel (Alaskan Malamute to a CD- can you believe,LOL! Numerous Weimaraners from CD to UDT and field titles). You get such a special relationship with your pet in these circumstances (and sometimes some laughs- note the breeds I've shown).

The heartbreak of breaking the stays only gets more exciting with the out of sight stays you've got coming up in Open. As you stand there nervously with your fellow competitors and hear the crowd gasp when someone's dog breaks the stay; the mute look we all give each other wondering whose dog it is....

...and the frustration!! Looks like you also picked breeds not so easy to train. When I first started training and going to matches
I wondered why there were so many Goldens, labs and Border Collies. Now I know!!! They're probably the easiest breeds to train! That's ok. I like being the only Dobie in my class!!
Do you still compete?

Good job, airhead, congratulations!

A friend of mine is working with her basset in obedience. I know they're making progress slowly but surely, but I don't know exactly where they are in the process. It certainly takes time and A LOT of patience! (By the way, whenever my basset does well at a show, we stop at Dairy Queen on the way home ;) !)

Congratulations, Airhead!

I know the feeling too. It's so nice to have well behaved dogs. :) I showed my last Sheltie, Countess Candice of Carrick, to her CD too. :) We were working on open but she got ringwise. Brilliant at home, but figured out there was no consequence for misbehaving in the ring. She was still a fabulous dog. She got out of our backyard during a terrible thunderstorm on the 4th of July in 1994 and we never found her. I still cry about it sometimes. :(

We got a new Sheltie, Tia, last December 13. She just came and climbed in my lap to see why I'm crying. We haven't started her formal training, but she learned to heal in about 30 seconds. She watches us very closely on the heel so I think she could be an excellent obedience dog if her stubbornness doesn't get the best of her. ;) The kids are interested in showing her, so I guess we really should start training her. :)

Good luck with open training. :)

Airhead-

I potentially have a puppy to be born this winter (cross your fingers, breeding took place last week) that I will compete with if she enjoys it. All I have are retired and couch potatoes, albeit obedient and easy to live with!

Like you, I was a lone gray dog owner in a field of border collies and Goldens. On the plus side, when the crowd would gasp"The gray dog got up!", I pretty much knew whose dog was out there amusing the crowd.

My Utility dog Royal once did the scent discrimination perfectly except for taking the article to the judge, LOL!
