I'm writing up a trip report. Did anyone spend last week at the Beach Club - maybe we met? We are the couple (yes, the only ones, LOL!) from NJ with no kids.

We met a really nice family from Boston - Red Sox fans - we shared a Coors Light at the pool.

I'll be back with some details and pictures soon!!! :wizard:

By the way, we are two 50-years olds who think we are still 17!!!!

Saturday, 9/29

We got up at 5Am, threw the last minute items in the suitcase- beer and frozen milk for the coffee – yes I bring my own coffee pot! The taxi picked us up at 6:15 and our flight took off at 7:30 - it was great – clear weather, no turbulence. DH hates to fly so the worst was over for him when we landed safely in Orlando.:)

We got on Magic Express and arrived at the Beach Club by about 11 AM. Talk about HAPPY!!! We love this place!! We have stayed many times and it is like coming home. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. princess: :groom: We found six congratulations balloons on our bed with towels shaped like a mickey head and Mickey and Minnie signed a picture for us and left it on our bureau!

We decided to just unpack and relax at the pool our first day. The weather was great – hot and sunny. Stormalong Bay is just about my favorite place on earth! :sunny: We brought along some beer – so we filled our little cooler bag with beer and ice and had a great time. We also brought pistachio nuts to munch on (always saving for the next trip!) Went down the slide; floated around the lazy river pool, swam near the waterfalls, it was perfect.:wizard:
We had a reservation for dinner at the Cape May Buffet (no more traveling today). It was wonderful – we just walked down for dinner and then back up to our room.

Sunday, 9/30
We did something we don’t usually do – we went to a park first thing in the morning! (We usually stay at the pool and go to the parks in the evening). We walked to the boat dock and headed off the MGM. :sail: It was hot and sunny again. We already had one annual pass so we stopped at the gate to buy the other one.

We headed straight to Tower of Terror - I am getting more daring in my old age! :scared1: There was no line. DH was so proud of me he bought me the Tower of Terror t-shirt. I love the back of it – it says “I suggest you take the stairs”. LOL!!

Then we walked back to the Great Movie Ride. After that we walked right into Voyage of the Little Mermaid; then we ran back to Sunset Blvd. and got there just in time for Beauty and the Beast. I always get teary at the end.

It was getting hot, so we headed back to the pool to relax for a couple of hours. Around 5:30 we ran up and got ready to go back to MGM for Fantasmic! This is my favorite evening show. Aferwards we took the boat to the Boardwalk and had a sort of late dinner at ESPN – they have the best Reuben sandwiches. Two Reubens with fries and a pitcher of beer – now I know I’m on vacation – I didn’t have to cook dinner- and I'm eating fries! The New England Patriots football game was on, there was plenty of excitment at ESPN that night!

Monday, 10/1

We are off to the Magic Kingdom!:wizard: :wizard:

We were heading for Splash Mountain, but first we got on the Jungle Cruise, as there was no wait. It’s so old fashioned and corny, you have to love it! I remember all the jokes from previous trips, but I still have to laugh - hey, I'm on vacation!

Next we went to Pirates of the Caribbean, again no wait. You must see the “new” pirates – you get to see Captain Jack Sparrow 3 times!! :cloud9:

We got fast passes to Splash Mountain and headed over to the Haunted Mansion. It’s been refurbished, and this was the first time I ever stood on line for this attraction – but it was only about 15 minutes. They did a great job here also. :hmghost: :hmghost: Beware of hitchhiking ghosts!!!

Next up was Mickey’s Philharmagic – love the smell of that apple pie! It was time for Splash Mountain after that, so we ran back and rode in the back – didn’t get too wet.

I don’t remember what order we did these, but next were Country Bear Jamboree, Winnie the Pooh, It’s a Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Space Mountain, Laugh with Monsters Inc. (this was really funny-an interactive attraction, DH's picture was up on the screen), Tomorrowland Transit (or whatever they are calling it these days). Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow!!

Oh, when we came out of Country Bears, the Disney square dancers were outside - one of the girls grabbed DH and had him square dancing! Another priceless Dis moment! (I don't have those pics yet)

We rode Splash Mountain a second time, and we sat in the front. I got SOAKED to the skin! You can see how wet DH's shirt is here:

At some point we took the railroad over to Goofy’s Barnstormer. This little coaster gets me in the stomach more than the big rides! :scared:

It was raining kind of hard in the evening, and Wishes was postponed for almost half an hour. If you are facing the castle, down to the right side, where all those rosebushes are planted, is a covered spot with a few benches to get out of the rain. Someone told us it used to be for the old Swan Boats.

It was worth waiting for – another lump in the throat moment! Wishes is just pure Disney. I do have to say that it was shorter than it was two years ago.

Great start. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniv. Had a great time too.

Happy Anniversary!

We are going to BCV in November for 11th anniversary (4th year in a row). I cannot wait to try out Stormalong Bay...looking forward to relaxing and having fun.

Looks like you guys had a great time.

Tuesday, 10/2
Shocked DH again by going straight to a park! We chose Animal Kingdom today.

We headed straight back to Expedition Everest. They had a problem with the attraction and it was shut down for almost 20 minutes. I was afraid to go on; I made DH go first to tell me what to expect. It was actually a stranger who convinced me to ride; I don’t trust DH when he says “it’s nothing”. (After all, this is the man who tells me not to hold on on Splash Mountain! I have never been in any of the pictures; I always hide under his arm!) I was glad I went; but I was so scared I don’t remember seeing the Yeti! That going backwards in the dark was the worst part for me, but I will ride this again on the next trip!

Next we went on Dinosaur twice in a row – no waiting. After that Primevel Whirl, which is always good for a giggle; then ran to the Nemo Show, which has replaced Tarzan Rocks. I was very impressed – this is a Broadway quality production! It’s also nice that the theatre is now air conditioned. Have to say we still miss Tarzan, however.

We head off to Asia for the Killamanjaro Safari. We saw a fair amount of animals, but not really that many.

Next was Kali River Rapids – I wore my poncho and didn’t get too wet – we rode this twice. After that we ran all the way to catch the Lion King show - my knees were really starting to hurt by then. I forgot what a long walk it is to Camp Minnie Mickey! We have to see this show at least once on every trip - there is something about that girl who is dressed like a bird; when she flies up into the air it gives me a lump in my throat - so beautiful. I love the ending when all the little kids are walking around with the characters.

We decided to head back to the pool for a couple of hours. The hot tub did wonders for my knees, hips, back, etc. Of course, a cold beer or two didn't hurt either!

Then we ran upstairs, got dressed and headed into Epcot to see the Beach Boys! I think Mike Love was the only original member - but they were great. I knew the words to every song - we danced in our seats and had a great time. The lines for each show stretched all the way back past Germany from America.

We saw two sets of the Beach Boys, stayed for Illuminations, then ran back and got in a 20-minute swim before the pool closed at 10PM. I slept really well that night!

10/3 Wednesday
Happy Anniversary!! Back to Epcot.

First up was Soarin, rode twice and got a fast pass to come back. We went to the Living Seas, which I haven’t seen in years. They did a fantastic job updating it with Nemo – I really loved it. We saw them feed the fish at 10AM – that was a first for me also.

We rode Test Track twice, no wait because we went on the single rider line. Went back to Soarin, then rode the boat ride in the Land while we were there. Next we did Mission Space (but we did the slow side, as we have never been on before and have heard some scary stories). It was a piece of cake on this side.

We walked back to the Beach Club and went swimming until 5PM. Then we came back to Epcot to see the Beach Boys again. It started pouring rain, we got soaked, so we only stayed for one set and headed back to the hotel.

We got dressed up and went down to the Yachtsman Steak house for our anniversary dinner. They gave us anniversary buttons, very cute! We had Chateau Briand for two, which was delicious. Our waiter was Ricardo, who we have known for many years. He is the sweetest man! It made it even more special to see him again. DH had two schooners of beer and I had two glasses of merlot. We had a window seat and could look at the pool, lit up at night, which was beautiful. We even saw a little bit of the fireworks from Epcot.

It was a wonderful anniversary! :wizard: :woohoo:

10/4, Thursday
Dh went to the gym. When he came back I said let’s go back to Epcot. (this will turn out to be a very bad decision). It’s hot and sunny, and DH is tired from his workout. We go to Universe of Energy, Soarin, Test Track, Mexico and Norway. The boat ride in Mexico has been updated - Donald Duck - it's very cute. It’s really hot so we go back to the pool. As soon as we get to the pool it starts raining, hard. Dh is ready to cry – the pool is his favorite thing on a sunny day. :guilty:

We had a reservation at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, so we go upstairs and get dressed. We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and switched for the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The buffet was very good, like a regular buffet, but with different spices. They had prime ribs, loin of pork, 5 different soups, 4 different kinds of hummus – which I love, all kinds of salads and side dishes. The deserts were delicious – whoever recommended the Zebra Domes was not exaggerating how great they are.

We went out back behind the pool and spa and there was a guide who let us look through night vision goggles. It was amazing – they make it look like day. We saw two giraffes and a few other animals eating back there.

The worst part was getting the two buses back to the Beach Club – we should have taken a cab. It was one of the nights for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party – by now it was 11PM and everyone was leaving the park! The buses were crowded with tired children and their parents, although the costumes were cute.

10/5 – Friday
Our last full day already! Rock N Roller coaster was re-opening today. That is the one ride I still haven’t worked up the nerve to try. DH went to MGM for the opening. He said it was so crowded, I guess a lot of people were adding a day to the 3-day weekend. He rode 4 times and was very happy. I took advantage of my time alone to get coffee and browse through the store in the lobby.

When he got back we walked over to Epcot to see the new movie in Canada with Martin Short – it was cute.

Sunny – so we head back to the pool. So of course it started to rain! We waited as long as we could; then got ready and headed back to MGM to see Fantasmic one more time. The skies opened up – thunder, lightning, torrential rain. After a while we were soaked, and as it was still lightning we decided to call it a night and went back to the Beach Club. We don’t know if Fantasmic was ever canceled that night. We didn’t want to go out into the rain again, so we went back to the Cape May Buffet. It was just as delicious the second time around!

10/6 – Saturday
Time to go home. But not before we went swimming til the very last minute! We packed up out wet bathing suits in plastic bags for the ride home. It was a beautiful, sunny day. We took Magic Express back to the airport. Where did the time go????

All I can say is we have been on the phone since we got home; trying to book another trip as fast as we can!! So far, we have 4 nights booked in December for my birthday; we have never seen the Christmas decorations. I can't wait!!!!:yay: :yay:

Glad you had such a nice time Auntie! Great report. It does make me want to get back to the Beach Club and Epcot, I LOVE it there!

Congratulations on your anniversary! How great for you that you're headed back soon! Have a great birthday and enjoy those decorations. I used to be a a chicken on thrill rides, but I got over my fear. I loved RNR! Give it a try, if you don't like it, it only takes a minute and a half.

LOL! That's what I told myself about Tower of Terror and Expedition Everest - you only live once! I rationalized not going on RNR - I have to save something for next time! I told DH I want another shirt after that one! :yay:

Sounds like you had a great time! If you have the AP why aren't you coming down with us in Nov? :rolleyes1 When in December will you be there? I'll be back Nov 29-Dec 8th.

What a great report! I have to say you two are just the cutest couple. :)

We're going 12/12 - 12/16 (as long as we get a good airfare). My Bday is 121/4.

I have stuff to do the weekend of 11/3-11/4. :guilty:

What a great report! I have to say you two are just the cutest couple. :)

Thank you! You should see him rushing thru the parks - he forgets I'm trying to keep up sometimes! Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode where there is a kitchen fire, and George goes screaming out of the apartment - knocking down children and old ladies to get to the door? That's DH in Disney :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm so jealous you are going in 2 days - I have serious withdrawal!!

Have a wonderful time!!!:wizard:

Great trip report and you are an excellent writer.;) Your hubby and you are just too dang cute for words.:goodvibes

I wanted to mention Illuminations. Does anyone else remember the version from around 1992 or 1993? Each country was illuminated one at a time; and they played different music for each one. There were a lot more laser lights in that show, and the fountains danced to music?

I have to say that it is not my favorite nighttime attraction anymore. I don't like trying to see what is on that ball in the middle of the lake, and it seems like a shorter production that it used to be - and less fireworks.:confused3
