Back from POR

Newbie on boards. Rcvd. great advice from these boards while planning our trip and I'd like to share info on renovations. They began renovating Bldg 14 the day after Pres. Day. We left on 2/26 and renovations were ongoing. They worked long days so maybe it'll be done quickly for anyone interested. We loved POR!

Thanks for the tip! I am going to POR in May. I'm glad to hear that you liked it! What are the plusses, in your opinion? Our trip is a romantic getaway, so I'm hoping for a little bit of "atmosphere."

Also, did you have a coffee maker/fridge in your room? Were you in the Bayou or Mansion part? Were the renovations disturbing?

Sorry for all the questions, but any info you can give would be appreciated!

I just got back from POR on 2/28 - we were in bldg. #34 AB - we had a coffee maker and a fridge. I really didnt notice any noise from the construction. In fact, I walked by several times before I even noticed it was being worked on. I really like the renovated rooms. They now have a privacy divider between the vanity and bedroom area just like at CSR. They have new bedspreads and curtains. The vanity area was newly tiled with slate tile and a pretty border. POR is where I spent my honeymoon and I have always loved this resort.

We were in AB Bldg 18. We had a room with a trundle which our son loved. We loved the atmosphere at POR. It was completely different from the parks, but we knew we were in WDW. The renovations were not disturbing to us. The parking lot behind Bldg 14 is the area where everything was coming in and out. We went by every day on our way to the south depot bus stop. We were amazed by how fast the renovations were moving.

I think for a romantic getaway, you will want to be in a bldg a little further away from the food court. The grounds are lovely if you want to walk. We didn't walk over to the mansions, but they looked beautiful.

Yes, we had a fridge and coffeemaker. We did not use the coffeemaker because we purchased refillable mugs which my husband filled every morning.

Welcome back and glad you had a good time. We were there 2/6 for 5 days and we loved it. We stayed in #27 and we heard no renovations being done at all. This was our first time at this resort and will return again.
