Back from Pop Century

I stayed at Pop in Feb with my 4yo and my sister. We liked it a lot and our complaints were minor. I plan to go back in Jan with my 11yo since that is his pick (we'll split the stay at POFQ, my pick :teeth: ).

My DH and I stayed at CBR and WL in Sept/Oct and we drove by Pop Century since my DH wanted to see it. I'd told him how some people think that all the icons are tacky and he thought that was silly and that it looked like a fun place to stay. It is Disney, afterall, and it looks the part, but that's a good thing!

I'm thinking about adding a couple nights at Pop in December. I have my air tickets and I need to add 2 nights somewhere and the price can't be beat (assuming I can still get an AP rate).

Tyler, any idea if the pillows are now a little less fluffy since they are not brand new? We could not sleep on the gigantic pillows--gave us neck aches the next morning and we had a hard time securing flatter pillows. Since I'm flying I don't want to bring my own pillows.

Thanks, T&B

We spent 9 days at Pop Century in May with our three children before our youngest turned three! We found the rooms to be wonderful and cozy...just the right size for our family. The atmosphere at the entire resort was just fabulous. We had the most fun we have ever had in our lives!

It was truly the vacation I had hoped and dreamed about. Alot had to do with the CM's attitudes and enthusiasm! It is the absolute truth that we did not meet one cranky person the whole nine days! My husband who grumbled the entire time I was planning the trip was won over by the first night!

We are planning a trip in May 2006 (just my DH and I) on our 15th Anniversary for two nights at Pop then a four day cruise...CAN'T WAIT!!!! We thought perhaps about trying a deluxe resort but NOPE...POP for US!::yes::

We recently stayed at the All Stars for the first time and were very pleased. We have stayed in deluxe and moderate before and were afraid of the "let down" at a value. It was just the opposite. My husband really likes the idea of outside entry doors (he has a "thing" about corridors). We LOVED the food court. But the biggest surprise was the "Disney" atmosphere. We loved being a part of the "movies". I am thinking POP will be the same with the Disney things scattered around the resort in addition to the pop culture things. That is why our next trip will be at POP!

Now I really want to stay at ASMo! My kids and I really want to try a deluxe, so will give the Poly a shot on Feb. But I really believe that just because something cost more money, does not make it better. I definately would stay in a value over a moderate. After staying at the Poly I will know for sure where the magic lives for me!:genie:

So true so true, money does not mean better, just as having money doesn't mean one has class.

More money simply means more money!

While we could afford to stay in a deluxe, imo the values scream disney, where the others scream other things: nice, lovely, quaint, peaceful, elegant, etc etc.

When in Disney, i want ALL Disney! :)

We just returned from our 12 day visit to WDW. Stayed at Pop also. This is our 4th trip this year. We stayed at WL in January and July and stayed at Pop in May and October. We like both resorts for what they offer. Our second trip to Pop and everything went well. We had a GREAT room (actually 3 rooms). We were in the 50s section, but right next to the 60s section. We could see the main pool from our room. As close as you can get without paying the extra $10 more a night. We faced the lake and if we went down one stairwell we were at the hippy/dippy pool, and if we went right and down the stairs we were at the 50s pool. Only differences we noticed since our May trip. No more surrey rentals and no more flavored coffee creamers this trip. Still no blow dryers like the All Stars (and mine died on my trip). I woke to a headache for 2 mornings and then asked the front desk to have maintenance check our filter for dust. They did immediately and my headaches went away. We did also wipe down the vent in the bathroom. Very allergic to dust, smoke and mold. (The worse dust issue we ever encountered was at POR, where it was an inch thick on the ceiling fan and the bathroom vent.) I find the CMs at the front desk and store/FC to be some of the friendliest ones ever. Top of the line!! Whether we were cashing a TC or making PS at guest services, they were always helpful and friendly. We have ressies for our 2 week stay at POP for May 2005. I recommend this resort very highly.

All you have to do is give Housekeeping a call, and they will bring you one. They are a "by request" item.

Tyler, how about the pillows? Are they still SO fluffy? I really don't want to pack pillows, but my neck hurt after one night on the Pop pillows in Feb.

During my most recent stay, they were not as fluffy as during my pre-opening stay.

I am another fan of Pop... it's the only resort where I've stayed twice... go figure... I like deluxe and moderates, but Pop's atmosphere and price can't be beat. We have enjoyed our stays at Pop more than other more expensive hotels in Disney (not that we didn't like them... it's just that Pop is so "happy"). The food court is the best one we've been to in any of the resorts... the CM's are all so friendly... the music just puts you in a good mood... I dunno, I guess being a child of the 70's & 80's really puts me in the mood to be at Pop.

Thanks, Tyler. Last visit I had to INSIST that someone bring me some different pillows, which they eventually did. I'll only be there for a couple nights if I go there in December and 2-3 nights in January, so I don't want to be too much of a pest.

DW & I have ressies for POP Feb. 5-9. Really looking forward to it. Sounds like a great place. I'm really liking that $55/night rate too!
