Back from our first family trip to DLR...our thoughts...

There you go. Tink is exactly right.

Even though the facts are the facts. DW is larger, more advanced, and more immersive....

Your personal experiences and memories make you love Disneyland.

That’s the way it should be.
WDW is larger, that is a fact. The rest is opinion, and I don't think being larger makes something better. We like both WDW and DL, but prefer DL. Part of DL's appeal is that it is smaller, easier to get around in without using a bus, and doesn't require as much advanced planning to enjoy the restaurants. But WDW is wonderful, too. Just in a different way.

People - why do you care that DW is newer...larger...more immersive (hence “world”.)
Yes, quite large. We were at Animal Kingdom Lodge and opted to go to Epcot. Took an hour to get the bus to go to EPCOT, 30 mins on the bus, and 20 mins to get into the park. Missed our first FP+ because of the length of time. More immersive? I'm not one that is immersed when driving on a road, even if it is a Disney road.

I enjoyed my trip, but it was very different than my trips to Disneyland. And what I have told people is you can't compare them. They are nothing alike. We stayed at a Grand Villa at Animal Kingdom for the first few days, then 10 days at Bay Lakes in a 2 bedroom suite. Location was great. We enjoyed the rides, food was good, family enjoyed being together. But it just didn't have the magic Disneyland has for us.

Just enjoy Disneyland - it’s wonderful for what it is.
I think the snide comments are what gets people upset here. Please just accept that people will like one over the other, but it doesn't make one or the other better, just different.

I have to say, staying in a non disney property changes the bubble feeling for me at Disneyland... We just came back from the Grand Californian and it was a completely different experience to staying at an off site property... That said we are staying offsite next year, and I still can't wait, love Disneyland...

The size of WDW scares me off going, it is last in our 5 year park plan for that reason...

Totally agree, my posts were not about DL>WDW or vice-versa, just that WDW was not designed by Walt and wasn’t ever considered a 2.0 in his eyes.

I apologize to the OP for the tangent. I have my own one-day trip report from this past week tompost about (it was fantastic!)
Yes, apologies to Born 2B A Princess for all this.

We head back to Disneyland Tuesday! Can't wait! The Tiki Room's 55th anniversary is awesome. Plan on visiting it at least once. Will try a trip report.

It is scary. And it is huge. But just take it a little at a time, and you can do it. I was fortunate and had a veteran WDW person assist me in setting everything up. Biggest thing is really plan first which park is your main park for each day. Then based on that, plan your meals. Then if you can't get yuor meals the way you want, you can change the park days around.

Places we ate that I really enjoyed:
Be Our Guest for lunch, Konas, "the meat place" as my granddaughter called it (aka Ohana's), Beaches and Cream, Biergarten.

Places I didn't care for:
ABC Commissary - It was just too crowded, we couldn't find a place to sit after getting food, took us 20 mins of walking with trays....

Sci-Fi Diner - I liked the food, atmosphere was good, but you couldnt converse with your family as you are sitting in cars facing a movie screen. A little strange. Good if you didn't want to talk to anyone.

People, let's all respect each other's opinions and stop the arguing about which park is better. Stick to the OP's trip report and review. Play nice!
For those of you who have been playing well with others, thank you!
