DH and I got back on Saturday from 5 nights at OKW. We had incredible weather and a great time. We were in a studio (3220) in the Old Turtle Pond area. Great location for us - near the bus stop (view could have been better, but that isn't a complaint). The room was in perfect condition and non-smoking which we had requested. We checked in at 3:30 and they told us that the room was ready.Spotless and everything was in great shape. But as has been reported before on these boards, make sure you turn on the refrigerator because it seems that mousekeeping is turning them off after cleaning. We went to the Winn-Dixie for groceries. Great prices and very good selections.

We decided to not do the parks this time. Had plenty to do without them! Went to Cirque du Soleil on Tuesday night. La Nouba was fabulous. Great show and we got the special prices which were in effect up until March 31. We paid $14 a ticket less than people sitting in the same seats two days later. Great deal!

Spent time at both the main pool and the quiet pool at Turtle Pond. No problems with chair saving;

Went to Pleasure Island on three of the nights. Enjoyed the Comedy Warehouse and our beloved Adventurers Club. Kungaloosh:wave2: I don't know how long this deal is lasting, but if you paid an extra $5 when you left Pleasure Island after your first visit you were entitled to 5 more consecutive nights. This was an awesome deal. With our DVC discount it pretty much cost us the same as a ticket at the window.

We're both big baseball fans (Go, Cubbies!) and we went to the last Braves spring training game against the Astros. What a beautiful ballpark. If you're ever down there during spring training don't miss the opportunity to go to a game. Spring training games are a great place for the kids, too. The players are very good about giving autographs and the proximity to the field is awesome.

Had some wonderfull dinners onsite and off. Olivia's was very good and Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL was fun and good food. Don't miss Bahama Breeze when you're down there, but go early. It gets very busy after about 6:30.

Lots of welcome homes. Wish we were back there. Oh well, we'll just need to plan for next year!!

Our recent (March 27 - Apr. 3) trip to OKW was also perfect. In case there are prospective DVC members out there wondering if you will enjoy DVC when you are empty-nesters, the answer is

YES! YES! YES!

We also just returned from BWV on Sunday, and had a great time there as empty-nesters. In some ways, though, it was the trip from H***, so our daughter ended up flying down to squire me around in a wheelchair for nearly a week. For future reference, it's very hard getting into the bathrooms without help. Wheelchair accessible does not mean "easy" especially if you are not adept at using a wheelchair. Think about all those bathrooms with two doors....

Another couple of "empty nesters" heading down on Friday for Easter at the BCVs. We aren't sure if we will be doing any parks, but plan on doing a lot of eating!!!! Love those APs!

Sh-h-h-h-h. Don't tell the big secret that being adults without children at a DVC resort is the way to go.
My best friend (and co member) and I have no children and joined 12 years ago. Folks still ask me why I joined DVC if I don't have kids! They don't know how great it is to go without kids and have a ball!
This is our little secret. ;)
:scratchin Now how do I afford more points and more time off from work to use them?
:wave2:

DH and I have 3 young children, but will be heading to WDW in August for our 13th anniversary by ourselves! I feel slightly guilty about visiting Mickey without the kids....but I'll get over it quickly as I'm sipping champagne in my studio at SSR! Can't wait to check out the new home and see what the kids will love when we return for our 9 day trip in 2005!!

Oh it sounds like so much fun! Which DVC would you recommend most for empty nesters...OKW or BWV...and why? :scratchin:

Glad to see you had a great trip. OKW is very nice. No kids? Even better! :earsboy:

We thought the ballpark was great too! Cubs? I'm so terribly sorry. :( :p Go White Sox. :teeth: :hyper:

DisNDat,
We love OKW. It's so laid back and beautiful. On the other hand, there's a lot of action at the Boardwalk. We bought in 93 and have stayed at OKW on site each of our visits. It's our favorite, so I really can't give you an objective opinion. Whatever you choose will be great.

No kids and no parks?!?!

I couldn't justify the the use of points for such a trip. A "no kids" trip for us means a stay on some tropical island not Disney.

Of course I'm not an empty nester. I'm sure some day I'll slow down and not ride the mountains, Mission Space, Test Track .... but I doubt it. :snooty:
