Just back from week-end trip. Caught Macy's Parade Fri. pm (even tho said wouldn't go on Fri. 13th), and enjoyed it very much. Stood at the beginning, next to Balloonopolis (old boneyard), and then moved over to front of Finnegans to see it again. The New York area is best as you get all the confetti & best Christmas decorations there.
Sat. pm parade was muuch more crowded, which actually made it a little better in a way.
I think it'll be a hit for them. Especially if they come up with some kind of Christmas trinket to toss to the crowds from the old faithful "Gator Float"! Although, many of the costumed walkers did give out lots of peppermint candies.
Guests that handled the balloon strings.... well, there were a few scowls on some faces. It was a little breezier than normal too though. Glad that we didn't get involved with it!
The parade started both days at 5 pm. USF would do well to have extra hands working Finnegans 3-5 pm on week-end parade days. Place was a nightmare yesterday.

I agree that the parade is a success. It was a nice long parade with several fun floats and sets. I also liked the basic NY decorations. Lots of street actors and a lot of good food vendors, my favorite being the Nathan's Famous stand. Overall better than Grinchmas by a good margin, looks to be an overall success.

Looks like it depends where you stand. We were over by Earthquake. There was no confetti, just a few candies. I don't think we got the real effect of the balloons. I wasn't very impressed. So I suggest people move closer to the New York area.

We didn't see the parade, but when we were watching the blues brother show, it started snowing all over the street, really cool.
Also, had snow in the Barney show!! Kids thought it was awesome.
Grinchmas was a bit of a disappointment, wish it had been inside where we coud sit down and watch, so many adults in the front lines that unless you could put your kids on your shoulders, they could not see. I surely couldn't put my 40 lb,er on my shoulders.

Wherever you were, it wasn't by Earthquake. The parade has not, nor will it ever travel anywhere near that area. The closest spot to that area would be the turnaround near Louie's pizza where the old Lou Wasserman statue used to be. So, you were still very much in New York.

I did not notice... the Lew Wasserman statue was ther just days ago. I walked by last night and still did not register.
