Hi everyone, I have missed my WISH pals and although we had a wonderful visit to London I am happy to be home once again. I hope to post some pictures on the CB at some point this weekend, when I do I will post a link here.

London was fabulous and although we walked and walked and walked some more, I also ate and ate and ate some more. I am not sure of my exact weight gain, but I am guessing it is about 2 pounds, but it was worth it. I couldn't resist tasting different things and I found those Krispy Kreme donuts at Harrods and it was just my luck they were giving away free donuts the day I was there, hot right out of the oven....mmmmmm. I also discovered Starbucks, not being a coffee drinker I didn't know what I was missing until now. But if there is a bright side, I guess if I didn't walk so much I would have gained more. So it was back to the gym today and back on program. I will have to give an official weight posting tomorrow.

On a positive note I have to report that this was the first trip ever to a hotel where the hotel towels fit around me without gaping open, so that was a nice discovery.

Hope everyone has had a good week!!!

Glad to hear y'all made it back safely from London. Looking forward to seeing your pictures! Do please post a link when you get them on the CB.

I'm glad you got to experience London appropriately. You don't know when you may ever get back, so 2 pounds in the name of "new country" discoveries isn't all that bad. And you'll have them off in no time!

Be careful with that Starbucks stuff! Their frappacinos can be deadly. Lots of cream and sugar. Black is okay, though.

Good to have you back, TL! Hope to see you around here.

WELCOME BACK!!!!

((((((((((((Debbi)))))))))))))))

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR PICTURES! If it's not too crazy to talk about the food you ate while you were away, can you tell me more? :) I just want to live vicariously through you. I haven't had a scone with jam and cream in ages and I hope you got to enjoy one! My Dad is leaving for England in 2 weeks (he and his sister who lives in FL are going to visit their other sister who still lives in England and my Nana and the rest of the family). My Dad already knows he has to bring us: PG Tips tea, strawberry and champagne jam from Marks and Spencers and a box (or more!) of Thornton's continentals! YUM!

I can't wait to hear more about your trip! Welcome home and forget about those two measly pounds, they will be gone in no time! ;)

Welcome back  Glad to hear that you had a great trip. I'm with TigH, I would love to hear what you had to eat, what you really liked and what you didn't like too much. I'm always interested to hear what people from other countries like and dislike about the UK.

TigH, Where in the UK does your family live? You gotts love those Thornton continentals! :teeth:

Hi, Catherine!

My Dad was born in Sheffield. Most of my family still lives in Sheffield or very close by. One of my cousins moved to Manchester when she got married. We are VERY lucky to have family living there - it's so wonderful to be able to visit and really see the sights with our own personal tour guides (not to mention that they are just the BEST family in the world!)

DH and I were talking today about how we love to walk into downtown Sheffield and grab a bag of chocolates from Thornton's and just eat them all on the walk back "home". :) Hee hee! I love those Irish Cream truffles. And we discovered Thornton's ice cream in June...YUM! Check out the link to our home page in my signature - we have posted some pictures from previous trips. Will be over there again next June for 2 weeks for my cousin's wedding and I can't wait. This time we are planning to rent a cottage somewhere near Bakewell.

On our trip earlier this year we walked and walked and walked. It was great to be able to sample all the English foods we enjoy and know we were burning it all off while enjoying our vacation. I'd say we walked about 12 miles one day when we visited Chatsworth House (next time I'll wear proper walking shoes though!) ;)

Don't mean to hijack your thread tiggerlover!!

TigH, just want to let you known that I live not too far from Manchester. I live in Lancashire, just over the Pennines from Yorkshire!! I enjoyed reading your trip report and looked at your photos. Don't want to be thinking about Thornton's ice cream :teeth:

You may think I am crazy, but most of the food we sought out was American. Living oversea's and not having access to American-type food, you tend to crave it. We ate at Hard Rock Cafe and Rainforest Cafe (HRC was excellent and RFC was awful). We ate at Stickey Fingers and had the best ribs and slaw we have ever had anywhere and we did Chinese a couple of times too. We did have fish and chips and on numerous ocassions my men folk had bangers and mash, which they both enjoyed tremendously. Sorry to say we didn't eat any scones, jam or tea, we headed for the bagels and Starbucks instead. I have to say we had scrambled eggs at a couple of breakfasts, and I don't know what the British do differently than us, but they were the best darn scrambled eggs we have ever tasted. We also ate our share of shortbread, which was yummy. And on the fly we tried different sandwiches from Pret and I enjoyed them very much, but other than that I don't think we did any other British food. I know....we are boring.

I am still working on the pictures, will get them up as soon as time permits. :)

Welcome back, sweetie. We missed you. Sounds like you had a great time and that's what is important. I want to visit London someday, hopefully some day soon. I have lots of friends in UK chat that I am dying to meet.

NO scones? No tea?

Swooon...faint....eeeek! ;) Well, I guess that's a good thing! You might have become addicted to them and I wouldn't want to be responsible for what that may have added to the scale! hee hee!

Glad you had a great trip! It's pathetic, but even now I still plan trips around all the great food I plan to enjoy - so hearing what you ate makes me think it was a GREAT trip! ha ha!

Welcome back tiggerlover! Sounds like you had a great trip and it's great to have you back here at WISH!! :Pinkbounc

Thanks for sharing your pics., they are wonderful. Especially the ones from the London eye. I must admit I have never picked up enough courage to go on that. After seeing your pics., I'm thinking that next time we are there I might just have to go on it!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures they are wonderful! It's been 14 years since I've been there and have to make a point of another trip in the hopefully not too distant future. I know DH would love it. The eye looks very cool!

Thanks for the pictures. They're great! They bring back wonderful memories of my trip many, many years ago. :)

That London eye looks really awesome. I can't wait to get back there some day.
