My husband has always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Villas, but I've always poo-poo'ed the idea. We usually get one or two bedroom villas, and honestly, I thought the points were a little high. Although I knew from visits to Artist Point that it was a beautiful resort, the boatride to MK was never a selling point for me.
Well we had originally planned to be at BWV right now, but I found out a friend (who I hadn't seen in three or four years) and her husband were going to be at BLT the week before. And like us, they were making a childless trip! I quickly changed our flights, cancelled BWV and booked VWL (waitlisting BLT).
VWL was a pleasant surprise!
We checked in just before noon on Monday, and our one bedroom unit was ready!
Loved the fact that DVC building is so close to the main building and close to the buses. Loved the villa. There could have been a hair on the bathroom floor or a spot on the carpet, but I'm not very good at taking note of that kind of stuff. It looked clean to me. Our balcony on the fifth floor looked out on trees. Lovely. Even more lovely was that we were in our room with our luggage before lunch. (It makes my day when that happens.)
What I really liked about this resort was the laid back feel to it. I don't know if that is because it's a smaller resort? We spent time every afternoon at the quiet pool. Hail to the quiet pool! No Beiber nor Bingo. No Katie Perry nor Electric Slide. We both were able to doze off in our lounges between swims and people watching. (The guests at this resort even seemed to be a chill group of people.) One afternoon we rented bikes and rode the path over to FW. Very nice.
Artist Point was excellent as usual. I don't know if any of you know of Brucie would worked for the Top of the World Lounge? Well she's at Territory Lounge now.
Needless to say, we'll be going back. Hopefully next time it will be longer than three nights.
