Hi all I thought I would share my experiences at DLP. We stayed at the SL from 13/08 - 17/08 in the Golden Forest Room which was a welcome upgrade.
I love SL as it has great character and the pool is fun for the kids, at last Disney has thought about the baggage scanning prior the Festival Disney and you now by past the French sellers out side the station.
I have been to DLP around 13 times and stayed in all but the New York Hotel. My best being the Disneyland Hotel.
The weather was great, hitting 85 on most days. I have a few gripes which I thought I would share with you all.
Where have all the shows gone? I remember seeing Tarzan / Beauty and the Beast and Mulan, with also a great Snow White Show In front of the castle these have all gone and replaced with nothing.
I do find the European people quite rude and they don't like to queue. Also they don't have much respect for the Park, which was highlighted when watching Dreams by trampling all over the flower beds.
The smoking is a joke, everyone seems to have fags hanging out of their mouths, so no sign of designated smoking areas or Disney being able to police their policies.
I feel that there is a lot less to offer now at DLP then when we first went in 1993, although we have another park Disney have got ridden of all the Magic. I also feel the Magic ears for dreams is a big joke, as before we went we watched a you tube video of dreams with all the magic ears and is looked great, I purchased ears for my two girls at 20 euro each, but found we was a minority when the show was on. I counted about 26 ears being worn, I don't think people want to splash out this kind of money in Europe
It's a shame Disney is loosing its grasp on DLP as being a big Disney fan who got married at WDW in 2003, the my closest Disney is going this way.
Personally DLP is great for the young as the size of the parks and the amount of walking is ideal, but it doesn't have the sparkle of WDW
