Just back from Disney and it turned out to be one of our best trips ever.We flew out of Buffalo for the first time, will never fly from Toronto again. It was an easy 2 hour drive, crossing the border took 10 minutes, hotel was good, flight out very smooth. arrived at Orlando 20 min early, saved 700.00$ in airfare. Why would anybody fly out of Toronto???????:confused3 On our second day my wonderful, beautiful. charming, sensational wife surprised me with a Disney Vacation Club tour.I have been dropping hints about this for years. We took the tour. discussed it for a day and are now the proud owners of 200 points at Saratoga.:dance3: .Will miss staying at Riverside but onwards and up wards.I could not take the wifes constant nagging (approx. 5 min ) to join so being the nice husband i am i gave in and signed.:cloud9: Will do a more complete trip report later need some rest now.

Congrats on your DVC!! That must have been awesome. I can't wait to read your trip report.

I have a question for you about flying out of Buffalo. How did you get your tickets? What airline did you use? You mentioned a hotel. Were you able to leave your car in the hotel lot and get a shuttle to the airport? Did it cost any extra?

We are contemplating flying out of Buffalo to save on three airfares for January, but I have no idea where to start. Is it better to get a hotel and spend the night there before you fly out or just drive from home to the airport? We live in Brampton, any idea how long of a drive that would be?

Sorry for all of the questions. Any help you can provide would be great.

Thank you, Suz

We fly out of Buffalo all the time. We fly Southwest and book the flight directly on www.southwest.com I've also downloaded the Southwest DING program onto my computer to get some really awesome deals. With Southwest you book your tickets online and then you can checkin online 24 hours before your flight and print out your boarding passes. You still have to check luggage at the airport but it's easy to do.

The drive to Buffalo from Brampton is probably 2 hours allowing a short time for the border but the border crossing times do vary.

Whether you stay over or not depends on yourself and what time your flight is. If we take the early morning flight we'll stay over the night before and leave the car in the hotel parking lot which usually doesn't cost extra - nor does the shuttle. If we aren't flying out til later in the day we'll drive down and park at the airport -- you can get a coupon for parking from the Buffalo Niagara airport website.

There are lots of postings on this board about flying from Buffalo. It's a lot cheaper and easier we've found than flying out of Toronto.

Thanks so much for your reply. I just had a look at the Southwest website as well as the Buffalo Niagara International site and it looks fairly easy to follow. I think I will download DING as well.

Just to make sure I am on the right page, so to speak, the Buffalo airport (BUF) is the Buffalo Niagara one, right?

Thank you, Suz

Sharptooth, I was just reading your post before you left. Did you have any trouble checking your luggage and getting settled at the airport?

Suz

It was very easy to check our luggage, just showed our passports and boarding passes and it was done in one minute. The airport is very small compared to Toronto and easy to find your way around. I have flown out of Toronto many times (business) But i can not see myself using Toronto again.

Welcome home and Congrats WELCOME HOME!! I'm sure you'll love DVC as much as we do. Your poor dw having to do all that nagging ;) :lmao:

I have finally got DH interested in DVC. If you wouldn't mind sharing some info about your purchase I would greatly appreciate it. We were just at the world 2 weeks ago and could fit in the tour so we are going to try to get back down there, for a long weekend, in the next few months just to do the tour. I know about the point cost but what about any extra costs/fees.

PM if you would prefer. TIA!!!!

Congratulations on the purchase of your DVC. Thinking about doing that as well, maybe I'd get to 'influence' DH when we go in Feb. We will also fly from Buffalo....just can't justify the cost of flying out of TO.
