I just got back from Disney World. Had a wonderful time as always!!! But, I am curious to know about something: When we were at Animal Kingdom Lodge, for the wonderful buffet at the BOMA restaurant, on Tuesday night there was a man blowing on his son's (who looked like he might have been 1 or 2 years old) belly when Dan and I were waiting in the lobby for the rest of our party to arrive.

He had a really thick beard, and the little boy had a big smile on his face as he was shrieking with laughter. The dad looked like he was enjoying himself, as he had seemed to be blowing on his son's belly (I don't know the correct name for it, although there is one) for a long period of time. I was just curious to know if it really tickled when a dad (who had a beard that was thick) blows on their son's/daughter's belly, and if there was a picture that I could get somewhere, of it, as I hadn't thought to bring my camera with me that day. It was such a cute moment to witness, that Dan and I can't wait to have kids of our own, someday. In fact, while we were watching, Dan turns to me and says, "We'll be doing that to our kids someday." I just dreamed that hopefully, that will be possible.

Ive heard it called razzberry. My dad used to do it to us when we were little (it tickled in an odd way and made that funny sound) and we do it to our almost 3 yr old son all the time (and we also pretend to see and eat what he ate last). He gets a kick out of it all. As for a beard-I cant answer that, but I imagine it would tickle even more!

We call it zerbert too, a term I first heard on the Cosby Show years ago.

I've heard it called raspberries but my mom calls it "belly kisses". LOL!

We call it fluffing. My dad had/has a beard, and it was too scratchy for me as a child. My sons love to "get fluffed."

We call it "blubbering" and my 9yo still loves it. He is developmentally delayed and it looks quite strange for an adult to blubber a kid that big, so we only do it at home. He just laughs with glee, which keeps us coming back for more.

That's a (I've never had to spell it before, and I have to admit, I'm stumped) nernie (rhymes with Ernie) in our house!

It's good fun with or without a beard!!

My dad always called it a "bamboozle." :earboy2:

LOL - Fluffing is something COMPLETELY different in our house!!!

Our house too!! Definitely wouldn't want to hear someone "fluffing" in public. :earseek:

You know Fluffing has a double meaning in my parents' house. I've no idea why they call two very different - er- experiences "fluffing"! But I thought for sure they were the only ones to use that term. By the way, ladies fluff. Men do the other thing. I hope I'm making sense.

We call it a "schnoodle symphony"! Don't ask me why!! My DH is a VERY funny guy. He makes up weird names for people and things and makes up songs spontaneously (sorta like on "Whose Line is it Anyway?"). My kids are 9, 9, and 12 and they still love to do it!

We call them "flubbies". I have NO idea where it came from. But my DS loves to get them & give them.

Just asked DS (13yrs now), he says as long as the beard isn't "scruffy", (some call it stubble), it REALLY tickles.

May you and your DH be blessed with children. You sound like you'd be good, if you notice those details in a relationship.

AS the current ZERBERT queen in our family I will say that yes.. it most definatly tickles.

My kids love to ZERBERT my husband who has... a "santa belly"

Kids are so fun.

"Raspberries" was actually the word I was looking for. I've been trying to imagine what it would be like for a dad with a beard when he blows on his son/daughter's stomach, ever since I saw that dad do it to his little boy. I wish I could've seen it up close, because Dan and I were at a distance from where they were at. Of course, I've seen a lot of moms do it too, and dads without beards, but I was just curious as to what it would look like "up close". Especially, if a dad had a really, really thick beard. Does anyone have a picture of it?

Thanks, Samantha

I'm not sure we had a name for it, but all my kids loved it when they were little. Whether it was Dad with the beard or big sis or brother, it was always a big hit with the wee ones.
