We (myself, DW & DD) have stayed at CSR a number of times, mainly because I go to a convention there once or twice a year.
I planned this trip as an anniversary present for my wife, our real anniversary is not til June but the main reason we were going now was to see Springsteen in concert at the Amway arena. So I decided to make it a long weekend and combine it with WDW. We arrived at CSR right around midnight on 4/17, we requested the Cabana section and were given Rancheros, I told the CM that we were hoping to be in the Cabana area and she just continued with the sign in process without even checking or even telling me if they are full. We were given room 6663 and the CM gave us the map and told us where the parking lot was for buildings 6A & 6B, she did not mention that they were in the process of resurfacing that parking lot(which we found out when we drove there). We had to park two parking lots over because the overflow from 6A & B filled up the lots on either side, the resurfacing was done by the 19th . The room was looking warn and we could tell it had not been vacuumed, crumbs and a lot of white fuzzies on the not to clean rug. For us not very big issues, I cleaned the crumbs but left the fuzzies to see if mouse keeping would clean it. We called and requested extra towels for the next day, unpacked and went to sleep. Friday late morning we were off to EPCOT and a luncheon with the princesses in Norway, we arrived at the bus stop and there was a bunch of people who were complaining that they have been waiting for the EPCOT bus for 30 minutes. The bus arrived about 5 minutes later half full, after everyone at our stop got on it was full with no more standing room. Just as the driver was closing the doors another EPCOT bus shows up That was the ONLY issue with bus service during our stay, CSR usually has one of the best bus services of any resort. When we got back to our room the bed was made but that was it, not vacuumed and no extra towels. We call again and told them we did not receive the extra towels we requested and that we would like the room to be vacuumed tomorrow, “No problem sir we will deliver the towels first thing in the morning and have your room vacuumed”. Saturday; we did not get the extra towels and headed to the pool, CSR has a wonderful pool area with a sand volleyball court, a kids play area (the dig site) and a kids wading pool and of course their main pool with a fun slide. We had a great time at the pool and kids play area, we ate lunch next to the pool bar and then before heading back to the room, took a bunch of pool towels for our room. Got back to room, no extra towels but the room had been vacuumed and beds made. Left to DTD for shopping and met friends for dinner and by the time we got back to our room our DD was asleep in my arms. We removed the comforter (we never use any hotels comforter) and pull back the blanket and see that the sheet had a big brownish/yellowish stain in the middle, it looked to me like the color you get from leaving an iron on one area to long, but we did not take any chances and took the bed sheet off and used the top sheet. We called in the complaint and they said that they would have someone right over to correct it but we did not want to disturb our DD and told them to take care of it the next day, they apologized for the sheet. Sunday; a full day at the parks AK & then MK for the extra hours, came back to room and had clean sheets on bed. Monday; new issue, turned on hot water and light brown water started to come out but disappeared after a minute. I figured they may have been working on a pipe and that is what happens if they had to do a line repair. Off to MK until it closes. Tuesday; time to pack up and checkout, turn on hot water and again light brown water, this time I put some in a couple of glasses and it took about 3-4 minutes before clearing, finished packing and loading up the van and headed to the registration area. Talked to one of the managers and told him the issues we had during our stay and gave him the glass of brown water, he apologized very much for the issues and told us that he will definitely have maintenance look into the water issue and then told us we should have contacted management about the cleaning issues and we could have been put on the VIP treatment. I told him we called house keeping with the issues and asked him shouldn’t management check with house keeping/front desk for any complaints? He said not really. To me this should be standard procedure; a guest should not have to call house keeping and then call management as well. He also mentioned that they have been going through cleaning crews and having a difficult time getting a good reliable one. He said he would comp us 1/2 night (that’s right! a ½ night not even a full night) and again apologized. Pool and buses get a 5 star rating, CSR gets a 1/2 star for this trip.

I am glad you talked to management- I too would be unimpressed if offered half a night comp....I wonder ( definetly saying not you) if they get a lot of complainers in hopes of comps..... but if management feels you desearve a comp at least give one nights worh. It so easy to say I would have...blah blah blah....I would have requested a new room to start if it was not cleaned properly and in hopes of getting moved to the area you originally wanted

Hope it did not spoil your stay.

I must say we did not have issues at our stay and I rarely read negatives like this about CSR... ( thank goodness!)

It did not ruin our stay but was an inconvenience, I just thought it was bad that they want the guests to call management as well as housekeeping. We really have not had any big issues during our stays (knock on wood). I can definitely tell the difference in service and attitudes over the past 30 years since I first went to WDW, it seems to be slipping more and more:sad2:

I would love to have seen the look on the CM's face when you handed him the glass of brown water! LOL Sorry, that is too funny! But I am very sorry for all the problems you encountered. It is very disappointing to look forward to and expect a wonderful trip and then have so many things happen. It's alot of money to spend and you want it to be worth it! For me, it's all about the room. If the room's not good, who cares about the rest. I have read that CSR is due for a refurbishment. Hope your trip was okay otherwise.

I'm sorry you had so many problems with CSR. But maybe you've helped one of us that will be heading there soon. So remember everyone call managment and mousekeeping. It seems asburd, but apparently the 2 departments do not have communications with each other. I'm with you on the Ranchos though. I would have to ask if anything was available anywhere but there. I'd rather walk the mile to the bus stop from building 3 I had on my first stay there than stay in the Ranchos.

Do you know when the refurbishment is slated for? We are thinking about CSR, along with POFQ and Pop, for our October trip. It would be great if it was right after everthing was redone, instead of before or during! But I'm thinking that's not going to be the way it works out.

Sorry all those things happened to you. I'm glad you didn't let them spoil your trip. I would write Disney a letter with a list of your complaints. Probably won't do much good though. After our CSR stay, I wrote and complained about the way the golf cart drivers run people off of the paths and nearly hit two little girls playing. They said they would speak to someone about that, but I still read complaints about the carts. :confused3
