I want to thank everyone who takes the time to post on the boards. This place is wonderful
We arrived at Orlalndo airport around 6:15 p.m. and found our way over to magical express. There were no lines, checked in at the desk and waited about 5 minutes to get on the bus. Waited about 5 minutes more on the bus and we were at Colorado Springs by around 7:30. We had booked thru AAA a king nonsmoking room. There was only one king room available and it was a smoking room. The castmember offered us that or a standard water view room for half price for the night and then we would be moved in the morning. I just finished taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection that morning I told the castmember and the cast member said she would be right back. After talking with her manager she came back. Joe and I were still hemming and hawwing over what to do. I asked where we would be moved to in the morning. Off she went to her manager. The cast member came back and said they could put us in a Suite because our check in was taking so long. And we would not have to move again. Cool! They put us in Casitas 3. But first we had to get our groceries from the luggage room that gardengrocer delivered. The bellman then drove us and our groceries to our room -3117. The court yard was absolutely stunning. Had a fountain and benches and beautiful landscape. Our room had double beds in it, but the trade off of not having a king bed was well worth it. Two bathrooms and two dressing areas. The suite is actually connecting rooms the second room has a murphy bed, plus a couple of tables, a desk with chairs, and a couple of ratan chairs. It is quite nice. I dragged one of the tables over next to the sink and put all my personnal makeup lotions and such there. The room was very clean and we always had great service from mousekeeping. The key to both safes were missing, called maintenance. We originally were going to the Boardwalk (I never made it over there during our trip
) Decided to go to the peppermarket for a bite to eat. It was very good. We went back to our room and our luggage was there. I am so glad we decided to trust the system and use Magical Express to it's fullest function. I had considered getting our bags before getting on the bus. The keys to the safe were still not there, so I called again ...no one told us we needed to be in there. maintenance came back about 5 minutes later and took care of it. Now to answer the questions about the beds. They are NOT like the motel 6 mattress's. They are the thick pillow top type. I didnt have a ruler but the top mattress is like the 17 inches or so type. I slept well every night. There is a ceiling fan and the heater/ airconditioner worked great.
Casitas is very beautiful and we were very happy there. It was a calm relaxing atmosphere. The landscape was lush, and with flowers. We were in Casitas 3 and about a minute walk to the pepper market. also the walkway was covered. I never heard my neighbors. I did hear one night someone talking as they were walking by but even in other hotels that has corridors I have heard that. One night there was a reception of some sort set up in the courtyard and I did not hear them.
We tried using Bus stop 2 but found that was farther than Bus stop 1 Bus stop 1 was near the entrance and the last to be picked up. Never had a problem with the busses. The only night our bus was crowded was after Illuminations. Understandably because of the shear numbers of people leaving the park all at one time. I found the location of Coronado Springs is great. It is a short ride everywhere except Downtown Disney.
The weather was on the cool side this week. We only got over to the pool once. The margaritas there were great and the pool looked wonderful. I wasn't dressed for the pool and had intended to get over for the pool use but never got there. It is a hike over but not bad. Maybe 10 minutes
The bar at CS was busy after the convention people got out of their meetings and before dinner. We went there only once.
We ate at the pepper market 3 times and the Maya once. Service was very good all three times. Our meal was fantastic at the Maya. Pricey- yes. I think this restaurant is underrated. We had an appitizer and we split a plate that had filet mignon, ribs and the catch of the day on it. More than enough for the two of us.
We ventured over to the Poly and the Floridian. When we walked into the lobby of the Poly I found it to be very kaotic and noisy. We had planned on sitting down for a drink at the bar and found that to be impossible. I loved the smell and look of the Poly though. Both of us thought the Floridian felt stuffy. It was absolutely calm with a pianist playing in the lobby. I much preferred Coronado Springs. I did however talk with a lady one night who was staying at the Poly. She said it was very relaxing and quiet.
I want to say you cannot go wrong with choosing this resort. It is beautiful and relaxing. The convention thing did not bother us at all. It is well maintained and clean. The only critisim I would have is that it is too bad they dont have a jacuzzi near the quiet pools as well. After being at the parks it would have been nice to use it. I wanted to use the jacuzzi one night, my husband and I had walked around the resort. I was willing to go back to use it, he was not. There was absolultely no one there. I just did not feel comfortable being there alone. It has nothing to do with Coronado Springs as I would not have done that at the Poly either. It is a safety thing regardless of where you are.
I know this is long but I wanted to give you as much info as possible. I would stay here again in a heart beat. Dont let the word moderate scare you off. I understand you can walk a long ways to your room at a deluxe as well. I found this resort everything and more than I wanted. Be sure to look at Buzz's website and at allears.com. They both show the resort.
