We are back from 8 days at CR. First time staying there and we enjoyed it. The room was spacious and comfy, i will say that storage is minimal so that was a con. Love the accessability to everything from there. The contempo cafe has much to be desired though, not up to par with the other quick serve places. Room service was terrible !!! We ordered breakfast one am, basic meals, it came 25min late, all our food was cold and we were missing stuff and it was $60 !! I tried for 2 days after to get to talk to a food service manager about it and could not get in contact with anyone who could speak to me about my feedback. The pools are nice, slide keep the kids happy and the activities they do were fun. The construction is near complete, a CM told me it would all be done mid-june. To the left of the pool is going to be elaborate landscaping and behind the slide area is a water play area that will have water gun shooting things and a splash park area and other water games. Mousekeeping there was excellent, very thorough. We were on the 9th floor in the last room towards MK room 4548, it was a great room !! We heard no noise, had an amazing view of MK and enjoyed the fireworks from our balcony many nights. My DH and I ate at calif grill and were not at all impressed, we both got the filet and I have definitley had better. Service was good there, but it is overpriced for that they offer.

feel free to ask me any questions.... see my crowd report on the attractions board too :)

So good to hear that for the most part your stay was very nice. It's not too comforting to hear about room service, that is where I was planning to get my son his Mickey waffles. Do you remember what kids breakfast items were offered at the Contempo Cafe? Also how was the bus service? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

the cafe did not offer mickey waffles but room service did have it. the kids options at the cafe were eggs, bacon or sausage or french toast with bacon and i think there was a breakfast burrito or something. they did not even offer pancakes which we were disappointed with.

Thanks for your CR-TR!

Boy, the CC sure gets very mixed reviews. I guess we'll see for ourselves in Aug.

Your room service experience is unfortunate. Those little things stick with you for a long time, don't they? Don't hesitate to follow-up with Disney guest communications even now.

Have you started planning your next visit?!

Thanks for posting your review and just to make sure when the Cast Member said the construction would all be finished by mid June, they meant the new landscaping and splash play area for the pool?

Sorry to hear about the room service. We take the kids downstairs to Chef Mickey for the breakfast, where there are all you can eat Mickey waffles. It's part of the CR experience for us and it might be less expensive than the room service option without factoring in some benefit for the character experience.

Thanks for your review! I agree with you about the lack of storage space. I wish they would remove that weird side table thing now that they got rid of the in room computers, and replace it with a chest of drawers. That would totally solve that problem...

I'm surprised at your impression of Contempo Cafe. I thought it was the best CS location out of any at a WDW resort hotel I've ever been to (and I've been to a LOT of them...). I enjoyed every single meal that I had there. I ate there about 6 times total...I guess it's not everyone's taste. I agree the kid's choices at breakfast are not the best, but their (adult) waffles there are REALLY good (even though they are not shaped like Mickey). You can get two waffles with a side of bacon or sausage for about $9. They were BIG waffles too. I saw many many families splitting one waffle plate between two kids...so this is a thought for some others. To be honest, I thought those waffles were MUCH better than the "Mickey" waffles that they serve at Chef Mickey's. They were fresh, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They were excellent. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry that you had a bad room service experience. That's just unfortunate and unacceptable to have items missing. Did they ever bring the missing items? Or refund you for them? :confused3 That would have upset me too.

Glad you enjoyed your stay overall though. Would you return to CR in the future? Would you recommend it to others? This is what I like to know from people when they come back from a WDW hotel...

We really had no issues with storage space, although we are "live outta the suitcase" type of people. :lmao:
With the closets and drawers and storage nooks here and there it was fine...if you want storage issues, try staying somewhere like Pop where aside from lack of space for clothes and anything else, you can't even park a stroller in there or barely get it through the door and past the bed.

I thought the computer desk was odd only because I am use to rooms having a table and chairs...that would have come in much handier for us. We wheeled the little moving table over to the bed and the kids would both sit on the side of the bed and use that table to eat, and I could sit in the desk chair on the other side of them. Unusual but we made it work.

We did a CM breakfast one morning...but with 8 days there and that being a hard restaurant to get into, it's not realistic to think everyone can have every breakfast down there for their entire stay.

Hi there. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Did you have one of the day beds in your room? I'm wondering if it's big enough for my 3.5-year-old DS to sleep on? Thanks!

The CM said they expected to have it all completed by mid june... so i am am assuming she was refering to both. i can tell u from peeking they both seemed to be progressing well and they were working on them both everyday we were there.

yes in fact my 6 and 4 year old took turns sleeping there, it was quite spacious and they found it very comfy. You may need to call housekeeping for linens for it as I had too.

I think I would stay there again but it would not be my first choice. Would I recommend it?......ya I think I would. We enjoyed it overall but our choice resort is definitley GF though I think we are going to give WL a shot next May before returning to GF the year after....we like to try bouncing around a bit but always seem to end up voting GF as our standing fav ;)

I agree the waffles were good...but ya know the kiddos wanted the novelty lol We did chef mickey's once last week which was enough breakfast stimulation for me haha

So there is no table and chairs in the room?

Ok, I did some hunting around, so I'll answer my own question. Looks like there is a desk and one chair.

Well then it sounds like by the time my family and I are there this August all the construction should be done and since we have the Bay Lake View reserved we won't need to see any work happening around the pool. Although we wouldn't mind if the construction was still going on because this past December with Bay Lake View we saw them building Bay Lake Tower, however it wasn't a problem.

Irab Thanks for the CR review! Glad that you had a nice stay...too bad about room sevice though...that is a lot to spend on breakfast and not get all that you ordered...

We have been to Contempo Cafe a few times and really liked it...not for breakfast though...we had the lunch /dinner items there...enjoyed it all..

Cant wait to see how the pool renovations turn out...love that they put cabanas at the Bay Lake pool...

GF is our fave too...BUT the CR is a close second!:goodvibes

i wanted to add one more thing about the contempo cafe.... they now have self ordering kiosks where you order your meals yourself using a touch screen, grab your drinks, pay at the register and then they give you a pager to let you know when your food is ready and you pick it up. One of the CM's working in the dining area told me that when they went to the self ordering they changed the meal selections to make the process flow better and faster and that they had been getting a lot of negative feedback about it.
