Back from Boardwalk Inn and loved it!

This is my third attempt at posting this, somehow my others aren't going through. We stayed at BWI and LOVED it. Staff was great, location was SOOO great for us since we like to spend time in MGM and Epcot. I booked a standard view room but got a lovely garden view with a clear view of the Eiffel Tower. We spent more time down in the ESPN Club than I want to admit ;-) we all really liked it there as we have in the past but this time it was just downstairs from us. I have tons of things to post but may never know exactly what happened when to make a detailed daily trip report, so I think I will post as I think of things in the proper folders. Sound ok to y'all?

I jut love hearing things about BWI. We are staying there in October and we are trying to read all the reviews we can about this resort. When we stayed at the Poly it was so easy to get reviews, but it is harder to find reviews for BWI. I'm glad you had a wonderful vacation!!! If you can remember anything please do tell. Thanks.

I agree 100%--the Boardwalk is the best! We stayed here for our first trip Aug 2002. Last June we tried the WL and I was so sad visiting the Boardwalk when we weren't staying there. Not to worry--we are staying again Nov 27th-Dec 4th and we are splurging--Concierge Deluxe. For anyone who is thinking about concierge-the planners are AWESOME!! We are five months out and I already have an itinerary from them with my request for ar's and the dates they will make them. Enjoy!!!!!!

The BWI is the best! It is my family's favorite. We love it there and every time we try another resort we end up visiting the Boardwalk area, eating at ESPN and missing the BWI. The rooms are beautiful, the standard view of the courtyard with the flowers and flowering trees is so pretty, and the keister coaster slide at the main pool is so fun! We love how convenient it is to MGM and Epcot. We love riding around Crescent Lake on the surrey bikes and ringing the bell!

Any specific questions just ask and I'll try to answer. This is the first and only vacation I didn't go in the pool but we had friends staying at a different resort. They decided to come to WDW with us 3 weeks before the trip, tried to get a room at the BWI with us but it was sold out. So we kept busy and I didn't want to say, "Hey, y'all go back to your resort and we're going to our pool." The kids went to the pool and loved the slide. DH took them down sometimes at night and said the pool is HIGHLY chlorinated. We have a pool and the kids swim in lots of pools but this made their eyes red. I'm not complaining at all, since they have reasons to do that with a pool used by so many - just want to give you the heads up. My kids wished they'd brought their eye goggles. I look back and cannot believe I didn't use the jacuzzi! I guess it was these wonderful sandals we bought from Lands End. Not one blister or sore feet at all which is a miracle as much as we walked. Another thing I only got to do once but is worth doing is going to sit on the veranda in a rocking chair out of the back door of the lobby. Ahhh.

We stayed at the BWI in February and absolutely LOVED it. I don't think I can stay anywhere else, now that I've stayed at the Boardwalk Inn. We, too, had a standard view and ended up with a lovely courtyard/garden view.

The location can't be beat and my family really enjoyed staying there.

We switched our resevations from the Poly to the BWI. We want to wait and try the Poly after it's been renovated. I think we made the right decision. Thanks for all the pool info. My kids love to swim and I'll make a note to pack their goggles. The BWI seems to be the least known of the deluxe resorts but from what I read on the disboards, it has a lot to offer.

Not a lot is said about the BWI, but I always try to post to threads about it since we love it there so much! I think it is the smallest of all the deluxe resorts.

As far as the pool goes, I think all the WDW pools are highly chlorinated. We just returned from AKL last week and that pool made out eyes red too.

I think the only standard view I personally wouldn't want would be facing the front of the resort -- maybe over by the bus depot where there is a lot of foot traffic and noise and I would think bus smells too. We have stayed at the BWI at least 5-6 times already and we always got a room with the courtyard/flowering trees for our standard view.

Don't forget to go into the Belleview lounge, located within the building off the lobby. Many don't realize that it offers some quick continental type foods in the am for breakfast. You can buy coffee, tea, doughnuts, rolls, bagels, etc. here and sit in the big library type leather chairs and play a little game of checkers or just relax. They stop selling it around 10am I think. They don't sell anything for lunch or dinner, and in the evenings it becomes a real "lounge" with alcohol.

We stayed at BWV for our honeymoon, we had a view of the main pool and could even see the tip of the hat in MGM and TOT (I believe lol) It was so nice waking in the morning and sitting on the balcony with a cup of fresh fruit while my husband slept in. This resort is beautiful and we will probably stay there again. This year we'll be staying across the lake at Yacht Club.

Do they have refillable mugs at BWI? If so, where do you refill them?

We stayed at BWI at the end of April beginning of May and loved it.

Mugs - they have the refillable mugs and they are sold at the Bakery - at least, probably other places too. they are refillable at the Bakery and at the pool bar at the main pool. And you can get coffee at the lounge in the am.

We faced a very pretty fountain near the quiet pool. One afternoon we were at the quiet pool and there was no one - not another single soul - at the pool. There is a hot tub at the quiet pool as well as a hot tub at the main pool. Good for aching feet and calves.

We found the Boardwalk to be very quiet. That is, inside the buildings. We hardly ever ran into someone else in the hallways. I like the way that they set this resort up, so that the general public has not access to the quiet pool area.

The main pool had lots of people around. And the water was much warmer, almost too warm. there was a quieter area - over to the right - but still not like the quiet pools.

The Villas area pool and hot tub is just around the corner from the main pool, unlike the Inn quiet pool. The inn quiet pool is on the opposite side of the resort.

We mostly walked to and from Epcot and MGM. We like the walk to MGM - nice an relaxing and again quiet. If you do not walk, the only other transportation is by water taxi. We did that sometimes, it was good also.

Bus transportation was OK. shared bus with Swan and Dolphin (2 stops) and sometimes but not always with Yatch and Beach Clubs - 1 stop - I think.

BWI has refillable mugs that can be refilled at the Bakery on the Boardwalk. We love this resort!
The shops on the Boardwalk are wonderful and just having access to the grounds of the Yacht/Beach Club and Swan/Dolphin make getting around much more enjoyable, especially walking to EPCOT and boat to MGM!

My mom and I are planning a girls only trip in Feb. '06 and we were having a hard time deciding between all of the Epcot deluxe resorts. I think we have decided to go with the BWI!

Antmaril--I noticed that you were there in Feb.--do you mind me asking what rate you got?

Just another question...we probably want a standard view, but would like an Epcot view if possible. Does anyone know if these rooms all have full balconies?

Are there any really bad standard views?

I had one about 3 years ago. It was next to the walkway to the bus stop, facing the driveway. It was only 1 night before we moved to BWV for our DVC stay. We arrived late in the afternoon and I didn't have any requests other than non-smoking. The cm said it was on the same level as the lobby and not far. Sounded good until we saw it. People were walking by constantly, the balcony was slightly above the walkway. If it would have been for an entire vacation, I would have asked for a switch (and I would have researched requests). But since we were only there for that night, I didn't bother. Nothing seemed to be going right. It was early December and I figured by staying there we could spend the evening in Epcot and walk back to the room. We arrived a day early so we could get frequent flyer plane tickets, so that's why we needed a room, I couldn't get a BWV room for that night (didn't want to pay Friday night points either). It turned out to be about 50 degrees and raining when we got there. So we spent most of the night in the room after going out to eat. Best laid plans.....
