Just back from a trip 7/28-8/4 to BLT (2br MK) and THV (unit 7031).

Great trip! We had a great view from 7716 in BLT. I do agree the furniture is a bit flimsy - we had a bag of mosquito spray on the dining room table that apparently had a slow leak - it actually ate into the table finish! - but the sleeper chair in chair mode is incredibly comfortable - we want one!

The room was warm when we checked in and a few light bulbs were out. We called maintenance and he also did the AC override trick to make it cool. The rooms with those big windows are much nicer when they are cool on a hot day (it as in the mid-nineties all week).

I liked BLT better than the rest of the family, who I think found it a bit sterile. Too bad they don't have AMC on the TV - it would be the perfect setting to watch "Mad Men."

Everyone loved THV. Unit 7031 is right next to the south bus stop and a short walk from the pool and boat.

We had a car, but the couple of times we used the busses and the boats they were right there when we needed them - even when going to Typhoon Lagoon (still recall the one hour bus ride from SSR to Downtown Disney a few trips back!)

The themostat is the same as BLT, but with the high ceilings and dark decor, we didn't feel the need to fiddle with it. We did manage to grill (although our grill was already rusted from a lack of cleaning after use). An earlier attempt was thwarted by rain.

My parent who are smokers loved that the smoking area was just at the foot of stairs (there's a smoker's post type ashtray attached to the railing).

While we were sitting on the deck, a repairman came by saying someone reported splinters (we didn't, but there is a metal handrailing so we weren't running our hands along the wood). He found the splinter and fixed it and did mention that he wished Disney had used plastic for the decking. He was also wary that the decks might need a lot of repair as they pull apart at the angles. He's hoping the've get him some brackets for the angles (since the deck is octagonal) to keep them from spreading.

Both BLT and THV had handy boxes allowing multiple hook ups to the TV's - HDMI, RCA, VGA. Although it's not hard to go behind the TV's, this eliminates the need. We did need to replug in our DVD player - not sure a previous guest did it or it was set up poorly in the first place.

. . . . . . . . I do agree the furniture is a bit flimsy - we had a bag of mosquito spray on the dining room table that apparently had a slow leak - it actually ate into the table finish!

:scared1: Or maybe that mosquito spray is stronger than you think. Hopefully you told maintenance or housekeeping so they could repair the table and remove the poison from the dining table.

Sorry to hear your family didn't like BLT as much as you did. We really like it. We are surprised to hear people mention the word sterile when describing the decor. But then we think the decor at some of the other DVC resorts look my grandmother's house. So it's nice that the DVC has such a variety to choose from.

Since BLT's 2BR is 1152 square feet and a THV 3BR is 1074 square feet, I am surprised that your family didn't notice that the THV was smaller. Perhaps BLT's extra footage is eaten up with the 3rd bathroom?

Yes!

Ummmm... DEET is corrosive. It can easily damage varnished surfaces or plasic. That is like saying the stemware is flimsy because it broke when you droped it. Myself, I like to keep the poisen off of my eating surfaces.

Yes the toxic spill was addressed! My point is it did not just mar the finish, it ate into the apparently (but probably not) wood table itself. Also the edges of the table looked like a rather cheap laminate.

The THV do feel larger than BLT, even though they are not 9as you can tell just from the bed sizes). The space in the THV is more centralized, so that with the high ceileings gives it a very spacious feel. We tended not to spend as much time in the bedrooms because of that.

The master bathroom seemed a lot bigger than BLT (haven't compared the floor plans to see). I liked how the shower and tub were all in one big shower room - this allowed for a relaxing showerbath - soaking in the tub while using the handheld spray to shampoo and such!

I did like both very much and would gladly return. It will be interesting to see how they hold up. The both had that "new resort" feel - in fact at BLT either we were the first to use the coffee maker or it had been replaced - the cord was still wrapped up!

On this trip, we didn't eat much at BLT. We have been to Wave, Chef Mickey's and California Grill before and they are all good. Chef Mickey's I think is a great value - it's noisy for sure, but the food there is really good.

The first night we did Yachtsman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club - one of the best steak houses ever (and htat means something coming from Chicago!).

We also ate at Rose & Crown (Epcot EMH evening) and then at a personal favorite - Trail's End at Ft. Wilderness. Another very good buffet - not as upscale as some of the choices at Chef Mickey's, but very good (they have the food at the Hoop De Doo plus a lot more).

See they finally cut down the lawnmower tree there - the stump remains but if they did not cut it the lawnmower would have been completely consumed!
