We arrived back late last night and I wanted to post another thank you to these boards. I felt so prepared and things were even better for us than I thought they would be.

Jack had a great trip, this is his first vacation since the stroke 5 years ago and although it was a lot of work, it was worth it. My main purpose in visiting WDW was to evaluate how well he travels and what we need to consider that is different from his day excursions at home because he would like to plan longer and farther trips. I figured we should start somewhere like WDW that is very handicapped friendly.

We stayed at Beach Club for 3 nights in a wheelchair accessible room on the first floor. We rented a hospital bed and roll in shower chair from Care Medical and managed to visit all 4 parks at least once. It was me, Lorie (our paid helper) and Jack.

We did Soarin', The Land, The Three Cabaleros, The Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, The Jungle Cruise, The Great Movie Ride, Muppet's 3-D, The Mararjah Jungle Trek, A Bugs Life.

We ate at The San Angel Inn, The Crystal Palace, Cosmic Rays, Tusker House, The Beach Club Marketplace and Beaches and Cream.

Jack had to sit out on Tower of Terror, but came through the pre-ride with us- Cause we just love that old dusty ambiance!:rotfl:
He tried to talk me into letting him ride, but his practitioner specifically prohibited that ride, plus I don't think we could have positioned his powerchair for a transfer in that freight elevator.

The only down part was the flight attendants on our US Air flight on the way home last night. They were rude and disrespectful. We spoke to a supervisor, we got their names and intend to follow up on this one.

I can't say I was real happy with the way the crew handled the disassembled power chair either. I may post more on US Air separately.

But overall a great trip and if it wasn't for these boards, I would have even tried it.
:)

Congrats on what sounds like a very organized and fun trip!!

:)

I am VERY interested in hearing about your airplane experience!

Lauren will probably go back to Disney and we felt good about putting her chair on a SW flight (after they flew and talked to the people about it)...but we are still not sure.

If your husband wants to see dusty old stuff then send him my way, lol.
Glad to hear that you had a great trip overall.
