Hi everyone,
We are back from our vacation to these two resorts and had an overall great time. We were home for 5 days and left on a second trip to visit family so I've got lots of stuff piled up around the house (like mail and laundry) but if you can be a little patient I'll be happy to try to answer any questions
.
I faxed very polite room requests to both resorts a couple of days before we left and got everything I requested (4/6-13) at both places - I was SO pleased. At ASMo we had a room in the Toy Story section, Woody building, on 2nd floor facing Andy's room, n/s, no connecting door. At CBR we had a first floor room (I requested this because there are no elevators at CBR and my DH was temporarily handicapped), in Martinique 25 (also my first choice), n/s, no connecting door ('cause I think they're quieter), also got corner rooms at both resorts. I have to write some thank you letters to the room assigners and commend them to the managers!
I enjoy the resorts for what they are and the ASMo was awesome for our kids, fun for all of us and upbeat. I think the themeing is just so cute. The kids loved the Andy's room area and pools. Food court is pretty good as far as food courts go and there's a variety of stuff. This was the one place I did meet some apparently burnt out food service cm's. Not rude and only a couple but just not the smiling face kind of service. The only thing I can say that I would do different at the All Stars is for us the rooms are a bit small (2 adults, 2 small kids). With the pack and play, all our luggage, AND the scooter we had to rent for my DH to get around - it was a little crowded! Next time we stay here I'd definitely consider getting two connecting rooms for a little more space. We aren't good at being cramped kinda people anyway I have to admit.
After 2 nights at ASMo, we moved to CBR for 5 nights. I LOVE CBR! I mean I really LOVE it. What a beautiful resort and just a great value for us (we had a $99 NC rate during peak time). The rooms are a decent size, everything was in excellent condition, comfy beds, lots of places to store things in the room. But even more than nice, comfortable rooms I love the atmosphere. Here things seem very laid back. The lake, landscaping, flowers, bunnies, ducks, hammocks, beach, music - it all just says "you are on vacation" to me. My favorite CM at the food court was an older Italian gentleman. He was telling jokes and singing (well) in Italian. The lady next to me struck up a conversation with him (in Italian), the only thing I could pick up is that he was from Naples (Italy, not FL
.) I kept thinking he ought to be at Tony's in the MK. He'd be perfect there.
Anyway, I also have to say bell services at both resorts was wonderful. We asked to transfer our luggage over to CBR - the bellman showed up at noon, exactly when I was told they would at ASMo (we had a late checkout) and our luggage was at CBR as soon as we were! Less than an hour! Reason I know this is because my DH goofed and packed his driver's license in his luggage and we needed it to check in with a state discount. So they let him into the luggage area, under supervision for security, to get it out. CBR bell services also helped us out in coming to our room, picking up the scooter we rented from an outside company, and taking it to luggage storage for this company to pick up - solving a logistical problem for us.
I do have some pictures that hopefully I'll have a link to soon for anyone who is interested. We were at CBR the night of the brush fire around the promenade and watched it burn and be put out. I have some pictures of that also. Interestingly we watched the fire truck and emergency vehicles as they got the fire under control VERY QUIETLY. This was after midnight and I guess they didn't want to disturb anyone. I talked to some people the next morning as I was taking more pics and they asked me what happened. When I told them they said they were staying over in that area and never heard a thing! More Disney Magic
.
Have a good weekend everyone!
