Back from Alaska Aug.19 Cruise - Any Questions?

It doesn't really matter what side you book on - since the ship pretty much follows the same path up to and back from Alaska. If you are on the starboard side, the shore will be closest to you on the way up to Alaska, and if you are on the port side it will be closest to you on the way back. Same thing for Tracy Arm viewing. We were in a port room and we had great views in all ports and all sea days.

As for ocean view vs verandah, we really loved the Navigator's verandah and felt it was the best of both worlds - being enclosed gave a buffer against the chill but we still had great fresh air. If budget is a concern though, save money for excursions - they are awesome! There are lots of places you can hang out on deck for viewing if you don't have a balcony.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! We chose a starboard verandah.

What were the different menus? And I've heard that there's a formal and semi-formal night...how are those dress codes??
**going in June 2014 and am uncertain about these formal things, for being a female I'm not in any way shape or form interested in wearing dresses...

I would love to go on an cruise to Alaska, but I want my kids to be old enough to appreciate - not just want to go to the kids club :) they are 5 and 8. What ages do you think would be best to take them?

This is kind of an old thread (over three years at this point) so you may want to investigate some newer threads on this topic or start your own new one. I will say our DD was 8 this year when we went and she loved it. There were lots of kids younger and I would say that a 5 year old would also have a good time. Alaska is amazing. Highly recommended!
