DH and I took advantage of Disney's Visa $99/two bedroom this weekend. It was a no kids weekend. We flew into Savannah while friends drove and met us at the resort on Saturday 2/19. We checked in around 1pm and had the choice of buildings 16, 28, or a smoking marsh view. Since we stayed in 16 last trip and wanted nonsmoking, we chose building 28 (2823).

Here are a few of the highlights:

Very nice late lunch outside at Salty Dog.
B'Lou Crabbe's magic show (packed with kids but we still enjoyed it).
Fresh baked cookies in the lobby.
$15 length of stay bike rentals.
Meeting lots of people in the hot tub.
A delicious, relaxing, late meal at Old Oyster Factory.
Talking to Gordon everyday at the Merchantile.
Getting away from the cold in PA.
100% capacity, but not feeling crowded.
Guiseppe's Pizza (again) .
DH got to golf at Shipyard.

Okay stuff:
DH and I are water/beach people so if I had to choose between June and February, I would choose June. I love the heat.
Lunch at Crazy Crab (okay but typical fried seafood)
Missing our kids (we still had a great time, but we also enjoy sharing HH with our teen DS).
Very limited beach house hours and ativities.
Only able to spend a short amount of time at the beach (yea, I know-it is Febraury! ;))

Not so good:
No Private Affair
The flight from Atlanta to Harrisburg-we were to arrive in Harrisburg at 9pm, instead it was after midnight, and finally home in bed by 2:30am. Up for work at 5:45 am.
Not having reservations to go back yet :(

I am sure DH will come home and remind me of all the things I missed in this post. If you have any questions, please ask!

Your report is proof positive that HH is a great place, even if it's not beach weather! Thanks for posting. Glad you had a great time.

Thanks for your great report-making me anxious to get there! I was especially glad to hear that even though it was at 100% capacity, you said it didn't feel crowded. I hear it's going to be at capacity when we go to. One of the things I really enjoy about HH is how peaceful and unbusy it seems-I was afraid it wouldn't be that way this year. So I was especially glad to hear your comment. Glad to hear your DH liked Shipyard, DH has been there and enjoyed it too.

Was there no Private Affair because of the season, or is this to be permanent? Surely not! Especially if you say Gordon is still working there.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing!!! I can't wait to go back in May!!!

Candace-I am NOT certain, but it sounded as though the private Affair MAY now be more seasonable. When I e-mailed him about scheduling a date, he responded that either he or the Private Affair was not available. Gordon was working in the Merchantile each time I saw him.

Hey Karen - glad you had a good time. We are going back in June taking some family with us. Did they have any member only events planned like the one we all had such a great time at a couple of June's ago? Hope your school year is going great.

Hi Kathy! I asked Gordon if they still had the member get togethers and he said yes. I didn't see anything about one while we were there, but we knew we would not be there on member's day any how. Gordon certainly remembered us and asked if you were along as well. hhmmmmm.....I wonder what kind of impression we made at the Mix"ear" ??LOL That was a blast!!

The school year is great-I can't believe tomorrow is March.

Karen B,

So excited to see your post. We've not been to HH before and today the mailing came for the resort listing all the activities. No times or days listed, so I was wondering . . . when was the B'lou Crabbe magic show? And would you happen to know anything about Pirates of the Cabilogue (I assume for the kids).

Thanks so much

Mary Kay-the magic show was great. It was held on Saturday night, 7pm in the community room. We went as 4 adults and still enjoyed it. We went in the summer months with only a handful of people showing up. The it was mid afternoon in Big Murgies Den. I was surprised to find standing room only in February. It is fun for both kids and adults. Sorry, we never made it to the Pirates event on any of our trips.

Have a wonderful trip! We love HH and I am trying to talk Dh into heading down again for Thanksgiving.

I can't wait to try HH! Sounds great! Thanks for the report.
