Back from a fabulous trip to DL** Forgot to tell You about our Angel pg 2

Wow, what a trip! Two whole weeks at Disneyland, sprinkled in with Universal and Los Angeles! That is so cool.:) I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves! I hope you can make it back soon!

Thanks. I can't wait to get back!

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip! If your light up box is an Olszewski, then I have to warn you to be careful. I started with one (Snow White with Dopey) and now I have 6. Those suckers are addictive!
I know!! I had a hard time choosing. And now I see they are running a 25% off sale. YIKES!!

Happy to see another family visiting the parks longer than three or four days. We always enjoy the parks five to seven days at a time. A lot of our friends and business associates think this is normal but, a lot of people think any visit longer than two days is abnormal. I don't tell those people we stay for ten or eleven days sometimes(not my fault some people do not know how to relax or enjoy themselves). If, everyone would take time to smile once in a while, the world might be a better place....:cool1:

I agree we definately didn't feel like it was anywhere long enough. But we got to slow down and enjoy the trip and do all those secondary things you might not do if you were pressed for time.

I'd LOVE to stay 11 days!! That's unfortunately not in our budget :(. But if it were... I'd do it in a heartbeat!! I am happy to relax and enjoy myself in our shorter trips to DL. As it is, I'm getting the second half of our upcoming DL trip as my Christmas present!! I doubt people don't "understand" the longer trip, or even don't WANT to do it themselves, but they most likely can't justify the expense in the grand scheme of things. Be gentle to those of us less fortunate :).
Julie~ Please don't think I'm bragging or rubbing it in. I worked a lot of OT and saved for 2 yrs. Also one of my twins is on the Autism Spectrum so I can't 'rush' him. He needs extra time to feel comfortable. He also sometimes gets over stimulated so either DH or myself have to leave park and take him back to hotel to relax and swim while the other stays at the park with our other boys. So the long trips also allow my DH and I to have enough time in the parks if we need to leave with DS.

How was Slaters? That's on our list and the website looks amazing! I love bacon, so I can see this being a highlight for me!!
How was Cafe Orleans? Was it worth it? Trying to narrow down our DL dining options btw that and French Market currently.

Thanks for sharing and entertaining our ?'s! I'm so happy you were able to really enjoy the 2 weeks in Cali. It's such a magical experience!! pixiedust:

Slaters was great and the burgers were terrific. I liked Cafe Orleans alot. The parmesan fries were delicious and I really enjoyed the 3 cheese Monte Cristo. My boys really liked the chicken gumbo.

How would you compare PPH to DLH?

The PPH was nice and I would stay again but it definately was in need of a little facelift. The elevators also were annoying sometimes having to wait (there are only 3 for whole hotel) . The pool is also nothing special ( a rectangle like I have in my backyard). The slide was fun but it closed I think at 8.

DLH~ rooms were larger and nicer. The kids loved the nightlight headboards and the Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes music. Pools were really nice but there were 'issues' (see other post). Area was very convenient to parks and DTD.

That said I would stay at either one without hesitating.

How many days did you actually go into the parks? What kind of tickets did you buy? Curious since you can't buy longer than 5 days now...

We are DVC members so I bought AP's and we got a small discount. The were around $450 each. This was a dangerous move on my part because they are already calling to me in my sleep ... "you know you want to use me again..I'm already paid for " ( hey that didn't sound right. I'll try to keep it PG but you know what I mean. ;)

OMG I can't believe I forgot to tell you one of the coolest things from our trip. Two of my boys wanted to go see an Angels game. So one night there was a 7pm game. I didn't buy tixs in advance because you never know what is going to happen and I didn't want to get locked in. So we went a little early to buy tix. I'm waiting in line and a man comes up to me and asks me if I want 3 tixs. (suspicious NY'er here - old habits etc..) So I'm thinking he is a scalper. So I say "How much?" He say 'free'. Now I'm like (Am I getting punked? or are these counterfeit and I'll get to the enterance and get bounced.) So I say "really?" and he says " sure I'm just glad you could use them. My office gave them to me last minute and no one could go with me." I look at the tix and they are $90 tix. I ask again if he is sure and he tells my boys to enjoy the game. So my kids are psyched. They tell me since the game is free they get to buy souvenirs. So my 'free' game costs me $150 in souvenirs but hey the kids were beaming. We got to our seats and HOLY CR*P they are 10 rows from the field right near home. Behind the Angels dugout. SWEET!!!!!!!!! And the man who gave us the tix is there. We bought him a hot dog and soda. And had a great time visiting with him. Unfortunately the Angels lost but it was a gorgeous night and the people were really nice and tolerant of these Yankee fans. The Boys cheered their lungs out for the Home Team and had a great time. Thanks Dan

Hey I was just wondering, where is slater's? would like to try it sometime. I agree with youabout the elevators at PP they take foreverrrrrr. we found that in some cases it was faster to go up and then go down*lol*

That's super nice about the free tickets! (Though as an A's fan I'm really happy the Angels lost :rotfl:)

Congratulations on a such a magical experience! What a wonderful memory a stranger helped create for your family .pixiedust:

We've been to Slater's too, and really liked it! We can't wait to go again.

Its funny you plan and plan and never know what will be the kids favorites. My kids loved, loved, loved animation academy. They must have done every class and they loved putting there voices to the movie. We spent hours there. Qmy husband and I just laughed and teased them John Lassiter was looking to give them jobs.

This is so true we love Ursula's grotto, doing the singing and voices, and can easily spend an hour there alone.......that is why I always laughed when people assured me that DCA was a 1/2 day park ! We could spend 2 hrs in just the animation building between the drawing, zenotrope, Turtle talk, the grotto, and just watching movie clips.

ITA. The Anamation Gallery is where this trip my DS discovered Oswald and became fascinated with him. He calls Oswald Mickey's older brother. He put his arm around my o ther son and told him "Its like I'm Oswald and you're Mickey." he bought an Oswald sketch and T shirt with his chore money. I bought Epic Mickey for them for Christmas and they didn't really play with it too often. On the trip they remembered Oswald was in it. They have played it o ften since we've been home.

Where is your other post regarding the issues with the pools? I must have missed it. We are staying at DLH Oct 7-12.
