We stayed at the Royal Pacific from 6/9 - 6/17 and had a great time! We arrived very close to midnight and our check in went smoothly. We stayed in tower 3, 3rd floor- I would have liked a higher floor but my sil and her family were joining us and we wanted connecting rooms so 3rd floor was what worked.
We thought the room was nicely decorated and the beds quite luxurious. Not sure why, but my son and nephew, 13 and 14 years of age were very fascinated with the big roll pillows.
The shampoo/soap was delicious- I looked forward to someone leaving the shower and the fragrance wafting into the room. The big fluffy white towels were endulgent also. (In my real life all my towels are currently mismatched and some left over from wedding presents 22 years ago
) The tub area did seem a little dated and didn't have an exhaust fan.
We didn't hear noise from the other rooms, but if the hallway was busy that noise filtered in easily. Our hall was quiet, very quiet, for most of our stay- but towards the end became more crowded- maybe a towel under the door would have muffled things.
We bought the $100.00 passes off the internet special and went into the parks almost everyday. As expected it was HOT! Because we had all week we paced ourselves, drank lots of fluids and used lots of sunscreen. We bought one of the coke refill mugs ($6.99 for the mug and $0.69 for refill) and took advantage of the free water. I can't imagine what it would be like waiting in line- the passes made SUCH a difference in our enjoyment of the theme parks. The transportation via boat was great, and we rarely waited more than 5 minutes for a boat.
We took the shuttle over to Portofino one evening to check out their pools. Very nice, but we decided we enjoyed the theming of RPR more- a tropical theme fits in very well in Florida while the Italian theme felt very much like that- a theme. My son and nephew loved the waterslide, while my daughter and niece, 16 and 17 enjoyed the more sedate villa pool. Musica della notte started while we were waiting for the boat and it was very charming. I would make a visit just to hear that. We never had time to check out Hard Rock.
My favorite part of our vacation was hanging out at the pool at RPR. The attendants will set up your lounge chair- do this!
They will help carry stuff, spread out your towels, open your umbrella and make a cool neck roll with a towel and position it perfectly on your lounge chair. I did bring snacks and soda with me and nobody said anything- I read other reports that said people were asked to take their items off the pool deck. We did order from the poll bar/restaurant a lot- at first I thought the prices were high on food, but after a day in the area I realized they were no higher than any other place and sometimes cheaper. I discovered if I ordered a diet coke they would bring refills, just like in the restaurant. Also, they let my teenagers order from the kids menu ( my dd could never eat a 1/2 pound cheeseburger from the regular menu) and the kids menu was decently priced- $5.95 for a cheeseburger and she could get fruit instead of fries. Adults can order from the kids menu with a $2.00 surcharge. 90% of the time our service was excellent- I found if I kept my tab open they stopped by at just the right times. My favorite part was the little freebies- or as I texted my husband- they keep bringing me presents
Throughout the day they have scheduled "activities" which include offering you a small kabob of chilled fruit or an italian ice or a chilled towel. It was a nice touch and made me feel pampered.
I left RPR having gotten just what I had wanted- a relaxing vacation with a mix of entertainment and down time in a beautiful and luxurious setting. Just based on getting the FOTL pass would be enough to recommend it, but I enjoyed the ameneties of the hotel too. If you're planing a trip here, I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.
