Back Button Problem

There is more 'technical' information in the thread listed in post #1.

The investigation continues....................something is afoot!

It started with my laptop yesterday but now it is doing the same thing on my desk top too :headache: It is only on the DISboards and is quite annoying :furious: How do we stop it :confused3 Like so many posters, I thought it was just my computers :rolleyes1

I wish I knew. Or, I wish the DISboard techs would fix it :worship:

It's really annoying.

:cutie:

Same problem here.

But even with hitting the back button numerous times I can't get it to go and end up just scrolling back up to hit the forum button (community, budget etc)

Ditto. Or sometimes I forget I have to hit a couple times and just sit there waiting til it dawns on me I have to hit the button again. Its been a little irritating!

Those of you who are having problems...

Have you tried a different browser? I have had NO 'back button problems' using Chrome on three different computers.

I'm guessing there's something IE8 doesn't like about Dis.

I have Internet Explorer. Have always had Internet Explorer. No problems until just a few days ago.

And it's possible there was some kind of update done to IE8 recently that has messed things up. If nothing else except for troubleshooting, I still suggest downloading & installing Firefox or Chrome and see if the problem continues.

No problem with IE8 at work or Chrome at home.

Why is it only on the DISboards :confused3
Someone else mentioned they've also had the problem on CruiseCritic. There could just be something in the code the IE doesn't like.

Also, when you click the 'Back' button, do you get some kind of 'In progress' notification? I have had experiences with disboards being EXTREMELY slow, but my browser would always show it was still loading the page.

I use IE9. Experiencing the problem on the DIS and Cruise Critic.

I don't get any message when I hit the back button but nothing happens :mad: So I have to hit the back button twice or right click on the back arrow and click on the page I want :headache: When I right click on the back button then I can see the alltagcloud stupid link :furious:
I searched for alltagcloud on Google and found this. It is gibberish to me but might make sense to someone else :rolleyes1

The Cruise Critic forum had the following post:

"Apparently, Cruise Critic is employing that site as a SEO vehicle (Search Engine Optimization).... a technique to get good placement in Google, Yahoo, etc.

They invoke the site on every page... here is what is "behind the curtain" on this page, as an example:

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:og="http://ogp.me/ns#" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml" dir="ltr" lang="en" >

<head>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />

<meta name="generator" content="vBulletin 3.7.3" />

<meta name="keywords" content=" alltagcloud, Cruise Forums, Cruise message boards, cruising info, cruise ship forums, cruise discussion boards, cruise chat, cruise talk, talk ship, cruise forum, cruise message board, cruise bulletin board, cruise critic, carnival, royal caribbean, disney, holland america, celebrity cruises, NCL" />

<meta name="description" content=" alltagcloud Norwegian Cruise Line" />

(My bold highlight) This is not a virus or malware.... it is supposed to be invisible to us users...the performance and back-button stall may mean the alltagcloud site is having problems."

Is this what we are experiencing :eek:

I've been having same problem for a few days as well as slow to load page. pressing back button twice seems to help.

OK, so we're all having the same problem, but is anyone doing anything about it??? I don't particularly want to use Chrome or Firefox, surely this site should work with IE, it always has in the past.

I agree :thumbsup2

But new versions of IE might have things that don't work with it. It's not like Microsoft is going to check with every website to make sure "improvements" won't affect the website.

I think we HAVE established that it's particular to IE (version 8 & 9 at least, don't know if anyone with 7 has reported the problem).
It also sounds like it affects more than just Dis (read the reports about CruiseCritic).
So you look for the common denominator... either IE needs fixed or the webmasters at Dis & CC should get together and see what's in common.
