Back after emergency gallbladder surgery

Glad you're feeling better. Hope you have a smooth and comfortable recovery!

Oh Patti! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery now. Take care! :grouphug:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and the stories.

In a nutshell - here's what happened. Spent 4th of July at BIL's house. Ate all kinds of junk as one normally does at a picnic. ;)

Went home, felt fine. About a half hour later, felt bloated, like I ate too much. My fault for eating too much junk. ;)

Half hour later - throwing up all over, stuff coming out "both ends" (TMI and yuck) - horrible pains in my stomach, sweating, chills, weak, nauseous - just plain awful.

I knew something was really wrong, DH took a cab back from Cleveland (at 85 mph) to get me into the hospital - and the rest is history.

Doc said he hasn't seen a gallbladder as bad as mine in a while. :earseek:

So my friends, if you think it's indigestion, pay close attention. It might not be. ;)

I'm sorry you had to go through all that pain and discomfort. I wish you a speedy recovey and are glad you're still with us. :goodvibes

Mine started out as a constant dull ache. It progressed to a worse constant pain and a feeling that something just wasn't "right". The pain was roughly where the appendix would be so we went to the ER and the doctor discovered that my gall bladder was pretty much a mess. They took it out right away much to my relief.

I have trouble now with fried foods and anything really high fat. But then who needs that kind of food anyway. :)

Hope you have an easy recovery. My MIL had trouble for months with her gallbladder before they could figure out what the problem was.

Just indigestion? I had the classic gall bladder attack pain on the right side right under the breastbone.

I suffered for 10 years because of a misdiagnosis. There were times I literally wanted to die rather than go through that pain again. I had my gallbladder removed in May. the surgeon said my gallbladder was literally FULL of stones and it was inflammed. I have not had any problems since and I have been able to eat what ever I want to! :cool1: Turns out most of the females on my mom's side of the family have had their gallbladders removed. I guess I am just carrying on the family tradition.

I am glad to hear that you are doing well.

She said the attacks she had prior to the surgery were worse than childbirth.

I agree with your mom.....I would take a day in labor any day over the pains I had for two weeks before my gall bladder was taken out.

I take vicodin occasionally for back pain and while I was waiting for surgery was taking them twice a day and that was barely touching the pain. The one day I drove home from work during an attack and quite truthfully, I couldn't even remember the drive home...

Glad you're back and feeling better. I had a gall bladder attack after the birth of my 2nd DS. Let's just say.......labor was easier!!!

Wow! So sorry to hear that, but really glad that all went well and you're on the mend..

One of my girlfriend's had a sudden gall bladder problem and was in so much pain - and was so sick - her DH had to carry her out of the house to the car and then into the hospital.. She had the lap procedure and recovered quite nicely..

You take it easy - you hear? :flower:

I'm glad you are recovering and feeling better.

My husband had his out 2 weeks ago after about 6 months worth of spells. He was too stubborn to do anything about it until it got horrible. I can well appreciate the pain you must have been in, having seen him dealing with it.

Hope you have a speedy recovery!
