DH's friend is getting married and the guys are heading to Atlantic City for a night next month. We are Vegas veterans but have never been to AC. How much money should he bring? We have a gambling fund for any card games but what about “extras” such as food and entertainment. Sorry if I sound naïve, but are drinks free when gambling like in Vegas (minus the tips)? Are costs similar for restaurants?
Thanks for any advice, I need to get his budget together ASAP.

We go to Atlantic City every few months. Be sure to get the players club card for whatever casino they are in. There will be coupons in kiosks associated with the cards - food and bar drinks, sometimes free parking and the like. Also google coupons Atlantic City and there are a bunch out there.

The drinks are free while you're playing. At the bar, they can be high - see above coupons. :)

The buffets are like $25-35 and up. But Harrahs had some kind of deal that you could pay like $45? for 24 hours all you can eat. Good at all four of their casinos, check their website. We usually stay at the Tropicana, and again, the coupons were good for the other restaurants there. Like last time we had a buy one get free sandwich at their BBQ place. Also, since you all go to Vegas, if you have a copy of the American Casino Guide - there are buy one get one free buffet coupons in the back.

As far as entertainment, it's not like Vegas. There is a comedy club at the Trop for like $20 a ticket. There's a few game shows, an Imax and there are clubs around, but that is it.

I would also suggest staying at the Trop. Lots to do/eat in that location.

We just had a girl's weekend in AC. It was a blast! We did the spa at the Borgata and spent a night there (felt like a grandma young young crowd but fun clubs if I was about 20 years younger -I'm 46. but we did get hit on none the less)

First night we spent at Taj and that was hilarious fun. We sat in some roped off area that they called a "bottle service" area- but we didn't have to order a bottle. I guess 9 drunk women seemed like a party so they let us in. It was the Fallen Angels show. They had decent voices and we learned some interesting dance moves.

Really I had way more fun than I thought I would. First night we ate at Il Mulino's Trattoria- the cheaper version of the fancy Il Mulino right next door. It was delicious! And they have happy hour half priced drinks. mmmmm fun Next night we spent double for dinner at Wolfgang Pucks and it wasn't twice as good.

First night dinner and drinks at the restaurant ran about $50 a person. Night 2 over $100. Hope that helps a little.

Great advice, thanks! I'll have him go through his player's cards and see which ones need to be updated at AC. Is the Trop in AC affiliated with the Trop in Vegas?

I'm not sure where the guys are staying, as there are a block of rooms already reserved. I'll keep this in mind for the future though, thanks!

Ok, you are not making it easy for me to sit on the back-burner on this one and NOT go to AC myself! I've been itching to get back to Vegas since our trip in October, and knowing DH gets to go and I don't leaves me feeling :upsidedow. I don't even want to partake in the bachelor activities, but it sure would be nice to go to the spa and gamble. Oh well, maybe in the future. :goodvibes

Is it too late for you to sign up for emails from AC? I get all kinds of offers. If you'd like the link, I don't know if I can post it here, but will send it to you.
