Since weddings are so popular at the GF I was wondering if there were bad experiences with rowdy bachelor parties? Thanks for any opinions.

I can't imagine that being tolerated.

Are you concerned with drunken men stumbling around making fools of themselves or about special shows put on by scantily clad non-Disney sanctioned princesses?

UGH! i would hope that they wouldn't tolerate that!

We stayed at the GF for a week last september, and we did have one unsettling experience related to a wedding there.

We wanted to take a late (for us) swim around 10 pm. Took DD down there as reward for sitting so well through a long dinner at Narcoosees hours before.

Just into the water a few moments and then suddenly there were about half a dozen old guys with cigars by the side of the pool (they had apparently had a few) and they began leering at my daughter, and loudly telling jokes that were not for general audiences. Also, heard one of them say he was the father of a bride that had gotten married that day at the hotel.

The rest of the bridal party came into the pool within 5 minutes of cigar guys arriving...and they were stinking drunk. Guys began tossing bridesmaids around the pool, literally. The bride arrived and declared of her wedding day "Boy am I glad THAT'S over!" how romantic is THAT? :earseek:

I grew so uncomfortable with the gallery of male eyes staring at my 7 yo daughter that I asked my husband to get her towel, whispered in her ear that we would swim lots the next day to make it up to her, and I covered her up and we went back to the room. she was uncomfortable and didn't complain at all, she said "I understand, Mom."

If I had it to do over, I would have complained to management. The group just took over the pool; all the other families left as well when we did. They had obviously had too much to drink that night, and they shouldn't have been allowed to drive everyone else out.

But that was it, the next morning they were all gone (YAY!) from the resort, and we had a FABULOUS week!

If anything untoward started to happen again there, I would not hesistate to complain to a manager.

I seriously cannot imagine them allowing a 'traditional' bachelor party to take place there. Maybe something at Pleasure Island but still, nothing really wild. This is disney after all!

I was mostly worried about in the room parties that were so noisey you couldn't get your sleep. We experienced that at a non Disney hotel once and it was nasty. I would hope GF would have things under control if this should happen. Just thought the odds would be greater for this hotel than the other ones.

As someone that's planning a WDW Wedding, I can understand the worry. For the most part, the weddings are filled with a bunch of people coming down for the weekend to WDW, and wanting to have a good time. And the VAST MAJORITY of couple hosting the wedddings have welcome party (our's is at Trail's End), then head over to PI or a favorite bar (Tambu Lounge in our case) for the rest of the day. Nowadays, Illuminations dessert parties are becoming more and more popular, so many couples are brining their guests to E.P.C.O.T. after the ceremony and dinner, then everyone goes their seperate ways after the fireworks.
Keep in mind that you encounter rude people everywhere (cheerleaders, those tour groups with the one guy carrying a huge flag) so its not limited to weddings. and by no means do i say that all cheerleaders, etc, are rude. just that a bad apple can spoil the bunch. and trust me when i say i would have gone over to the guy that was looking over at your daughter and said, "dude, she's 7!".
so the short of it is, although the GF averages a couple weddings a day, from 9AM til 6PM, the chance that you'll run into a dummy like the pool people is pretty slim.

actually, GF was just about THE quietest hotel we've stayed at in Disney, room wise. Slept like a baby! (well until the coffee smell from the concierge lounge woke me up! LOL)

have a great trip!
