Okay...so about 5 months ago, aafter I moved to california, my mom decided to list my name in a weekly email for our synagogue saying that I was looking for families to babysit for. Okay great. I wasnt expecting much from it because i figured most people already had sitters.
Well in teh past 5 months, ive gotten emails from 10 different families. Great. I responded to all of these emails exhibiting interest in babysitting for them. Out of the 10 families, only 4 ever responded to the emails that I sent and i have ended up sitting for all 4 of those families.

I completely understand If you have decide dthat you dont need a babysitter, etc. But I have to say that I find it very rude if someone emails me asking if I am available and than when I take the time to respond, I never get any response back from them!!

Does anyone else think this is rude and that if they were no longer interested in having me babysit they at least should have responded with that?

Yes. If you took the time to respond to their inquiry, especially if you made it clear you were willing to sit for them, the it was rude for them to not reply.

If your email is one of the freebie sources, like yahoo, your email can get filtered as possible spam, especially (but not limited to) if you emailed a general response to several of them at one time. Long shot possibility, but worth considering. They may not have heard from you and decided you were the one not following through.

My guess is that they had already found people by the time you got back to them.

I think that you just have to think of it as business communication.

Your no-cost marketing effort resulted in ten nibbles. Of these ten nibbles, four resulted in actual customers.

You were able to convert four inquiries into customers. You're doing very well.
