Babysitting fees

I'm just trying to get a quick, general idea of what you would pay a 16-20yo to come into your home 1 or 2 days a week to babysit an 11yo girl? It will be about 12 hours on the days that she's here. The child is healthy, I would provide foods for all meals and snacks. We are a pool community and I do expect them to engage her for a while most of the day...swimming, biking, playing games...such as that. There will be no driving around town as my DsD lives out of state so she's not involved in anything here. I will pay more if they are willing to do some light housekeeping (vacuum, run the dishwasher, dust...nothing monumental). What is the going rate these day?

I have a 14 year old but also have a 10 and 9 year old. When I hire a sitter for one of my girls or both of them I pay 10 dollars per hour plus tip. No housekeeping, full food,tv,internet and phone.

I would say around $8/hour for a high-schooler. Possibly more for a college age sitter. I have 3 small children (ages 5, 3 and 3) and I pay $10/hour for a sitter. Many around here are starting to pay $12/hour, though, for that many kids.

I pay a 17 year old $5 an hour for the three of mine, when I need her. She is an angel, they adore her, and that is her rate. I am so happy I live in a small town!

I would probably pay her a flat 100.00 per day.

I just got off the phone with a woman in my subdivision. She's just finishing her 1st year teaching. She's married, with no kids, looking for part time summer work. She teaches 6th grade (which is what DsD will be starting in the fall). We meet her friday. She said she loved to clean as well so we set a tentative fee of $12/hr. for all that. I may have found a happy medium. Since DsD is from out of state, I feel better having a grown up watching her instead of a teenager. Thanks for the input guys.
