Have any of your sitters ever done this?

we are encouraging our Caravan kids to bring their own emergency activities with them when they go to babysit.
activities with vary with ages of course

SO far we have on the list

Paint with water books
colouring books
puzzles
large beads and yarn
photo albums
videos ( pre approved ones only of course)
puppets

Can you help me add to the list please?

Thanks!

bubbles

books to read to the kids

small tub with a contained craft project in it (oriental trading company makes really cheap craft kits that are quick and easy) (puppets out of brown paper bags, etc)

old magazines they don't mind older kids cutting up to make collages

cheapy dress up costumes from the $1 store (my kids adore those awful things and are always excited to see them).

an 'art kit' with crayons, safety scissors, gluesticks etc

color wonder paper and markers...use them all the time when im babysitting...they cant make a mess cause they dont write on anything but the paper...kids love 'em too!

Felt Kids makes great portable felt boards with characters - we have Wizard of Oz, Madeline, Blues Clues and Big Comfy Couch ones.

Make sure the bags are age appropriate for the kids they are going to sit. :)

We did this when I worked at KinderCare on Disney property and would babysit guest's kids in the room.

Also be sure to include a few storybooks - most kids love to have stories read to them!

Oh oh oh! I do!

I bring: (I should let you know it depends on where the child lives...and I live in a tiny town too)

For summer/spring:
Sunscreen
Library card
Bubbles
Cool bandaids
Sidewalk chalk
Craft (I usually make puzzles, Fruit Loop Necklaces...the like)

For winter:
A cool board game (Shrek 2 Twisted Fairy Tale and Lego CREATOR are two local favorites...small pieces, though)

Anytime:

The Boredom Box (it's a shoebox covered with paper and has activity slips inside. I have two sets of slips...one for girls, one for boys. Fun and safe activities only! Coloring, craft, puzzle, stories, quiet game, and any sort of Contest)
Stopwatch (for timing Contests of course!)

Any questions feel free to ask!
