Babysitter Recommendations by Name?

I saw the recommendations for babysitter agencies. For those who have gotten a babysitter near DL, is there a babysitter you can recommend by name?

My worries are probably unwarranted, but I'd feel better with a recommendation. When my daycare provider quit, she suggested someone who had a childcare violation for leaving the child with her bedridden husband while the mother of the child knocked on the door for 45 minutes. Not picky about the activities, but want to make sure they are safe. Parent recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I feel more comfortable using agencies because they are legally responsible and liable for their employees. With an independent babysitter, how do you vet them?

Hmm... I've never thought of it that way. We've never gone through an agency. Always gotten a recommendation from friends & family.

My older sister got a nanny from topsitters.com to look after my kids and our house. She has been doing a great job so far. There is a nanny cam running in the house but she is not aware of it.

If you wanted to save a little money, you could always hire locally. There are plenty of great ways to search for a qualified and trustworthy person to help out like Care.com and a really good service in Orlando is Extra Hands Inc. I'll leave some info below if anyone is in need of some help

If that was a personal recommendation, wouldn't you want to go with something else after that? I'd give a service a try, as said, they put their people through background checks that individuals just don't usually do. If it's not going to be someone I know personally, especially out of town, then I would feel better with an agency.
