We are going for the weekend in Sept for MNSSHP. On Sat we will be spending the day at MGM since the parks close early I was thinking of going to disney quest that evening. I have started to consider just dh and I going to PI. I love the adventurers club but haven't been in so long. The 15th is dd's bday so I thought about letting her go to one of he kids clubs but that leaves dd3. Have any of you left your ds or dd alone w/ a sitter in disney? Should I leave both dds w/ the sitter or just skip PI for this trip.

FYI- In case you don't remember dd has SOD (Septo Optic Dysplasia). She doesn't talk, stand, walk, crawl, etc. Well you get the point I am a little nervous about leaving dd since I have not left her alone w/ anyone other than family or personal friends.

Also, Do you have someone that you would recommend?

Thanks,
Mandy

I'd call the local babysitting agencies and see if they have any experience with SN kids. You could also try a local hospital/nursing school and see if they post babysitting jobs.

HTH.

Two points on this.

DD15 is too old for one of the kids clubs. I think the top age is 12.

I have never used them, but only heard good things about Fairy Godmother's Sitting Services, (407) 969-9847 and toll free 877-611-4314. I understand they are able to take care of SN children as long as they are aware, in advance, of the needs.

Kid's Nite Out is the recommended WDW sitting service. I talked to them about watching my son (who has type 1) and they were willing to send someone who is type 2 and knew how to do finger sticks, etc. We didn't end up needing the extra help.

I used Fairy Godmothers once with my younger DS before he had type 1 and they did a good job although the experience was less than perfect (she came late, knocking on the wrong door, forgot all the toys they usually bring and seemed a bit ditzy - and still I left my kid with her! Ok...she did fine but it was so stressful I actually ended up leaving my DH and other son at the MK and coming back much earlier than planned cause I was not comfortable.). Each time I called the FG phone number I got a woman who was clearly in the car driving (or perhaps waiting to pick up someone?) with a bunch of other kids in the car. Perhaps just my bad luck! Believe me....I am not opposed to babysitting - so not trying to discourage you. I would just say if you don't like something about the situation then don't do it cause you'll end up like me - too worried to enjoy your night out! I would probably use KNO since they are the WDW recommended service and they did the childcare for the diabetes conf. we attend at WDW and do a great job.

Anyway...here is the DIS info: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Just_for_kids/childcare.htm

I swap sitting with a friend who also has a SN child. Too Bad it is so hard to do with strangers, as parents of SN children we could help each other out if we were in the same hotel. Of course then there is all the legal garbage that goes with just helping out that make it almost impossible.

I've used Fairy Godmother's about 10 times now and had nothing but an excellent experience with them. We try to get the same lady each time, but sometimes we can't. We've had Barbara, Staci and another lady last month-I've forgotten her name now. They were all 3 excellent, very timely, brought toys -even left toys that my kids liked for them to keep and were just extremely accomodating and kind.

My DS7 is on the autism spectrum and in the beginning of us using FG's-he didn't talk much, wasn't potty trained and didn't interact much. They were exceptional when it came to his needs and I was never worried or anxious about leaving them with a Fairy Godmother (except the first time when I didn't know them-that was a little nerve wracking). We did tell them in advance about our son and they were totally fine with it.

We look forward to our nights out b/c we can relax knowing our kids are in good hands and we've even started to plan extra nights out for us in our trips. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. Hope this helps.

Hey,

Looks like we'll be there the same time!:goodvibes Can't wait for the boys to go to their first MNSSHP!

I used the Fairy Godmothers 3 times & Kids Nite Out twice. I probably will use KNO again b/c both times the sitter was actually an employee of WDW who did this to make extra $. That just makes me feel better.

If you can't find anyone you can drop her off in our - already crazy w/ 3 sn kids- room :rotfl2: We'll be at the Contemporary :woohoo:

Good Luck! Last year DH & I spent a night alone & went to Raglan Road & PI and it was really nice.
