Baby's First Trip to WDW...Part 3 is up! (pg 2)

SL, I love your photos! Lucas looks like he had a great time so far. We did a MNSSHP with Madison at 19 months and I wish we had skipped it in a way too. We went once when I was pregnant with her and enjoyed it, but like Lucas she fell asleep and didn't care about what she was awake for anyway.

I can't wait to read the rest!

Great trippie SL! It's really making me look forward to Olivia's first trip!

Hi again,
We too had issues with the POFQ housekeeping  . They didn't empty our trash, barely made the beds, never refilled our toiletries, etc. . What building were you in? I wonder if we had the same mousekeeper.

We also went in 2004 to the MVMCP and I wasn't too impressed. It was the enormous amount of people there that bothered me. I had this idea that the crowds would be light and that wasn't the case at all.

Looking forward to the rest of the report :) .
We were in building 3. I also noticed the vacuuming wasn't up to par and with a kid rolling around on the floor, that kind of squicked me out a little.

As for MNSSHP, the only hard ticket event I've ever been to was E-Ticket night a couple years ago and it was fantastic. Silly me thought this would be the same, crowd-wise. I should have done a little more research on the theme parks board.

I'm still working on part 3 and hope to have it up in the next day or two. Thanks for reading!

Day 6:
DH woke up at the crack of dawn to catch a shuttle to the rental car place and came back with a PT Cruiser. Earlier that night while we were at MNSSHP, DH’s relatives had shown up: His sister and her husband and his cousin and her husband. SIL and BIL were staying at POFQ while the cousins were at Coronado Springs. DH, DS, and I, along with SIL and BIL, were going to drive to Tampa and visit with some of DH’s and SIL’s relatives. If I was, um, a little less than entertained, you will be too. Just know that we made it safely to Tampa, visited, and made it back safely.

We met up with the cousins at MK that night, after dinner at the food court. DH and his family rode Big Thunder Mtn while I stayed with DS. It was pretty late, and we had just had a long day of traveling so I decided to take DS back. DH came with us and we turned in.

Day 7:
Another short report on this day. I woke up with a killer headache. Remember, I had a sinus infection earlier in the week. You know the kind of headache where your head is throbbing and any sound or light makes you feel like your head is being ripped open? That’s the kind I had. DH was kind enough to keep DS entertained for most of the day (after letting his family into one of the parks – he’s a CM and gets passes and it’s a long story).

Let me take this opportunity to tell you the story of how we didn’t go on Expedition Everest. DH’s cousin (actually the husband of the cousin, but for all intents and purposes, he’s a cousin) and DH are both crazy for Disney and talked about nothing but this trip for months. They were both looking forward to riding EE. I was too, but I’m kind of a baby and didn’t want to ride it alone. We decided that we’d run over to AK to ride EE, then go about our day. Well, DH’s cousin decided to ride it when we were at MNSSHP then proceeded to throw up. (I really hope he doesn’t read here.) Needless to say, he didn’t want to ride it again. That, plus my headache destroyed any chances of DH and I riding EE this trip. Oh well, there’s always next time.

I felt somewhat better by the late afternoon, so we took DS to the little playground at POFQ to burn off some energy, then boarded the boat to Downtown Disney to have dinner at Planet Hollywood with SIL and BIL. We ate, shopped a little, and went back early. Even DH agreed it was nice having a day where we didn’t do anything.

Day 8:
This was SIL and BIL’s, as well as the cousins’, last day (they were just down for the weekend). We all went to MGM. DH and company rode Star Tours (I get motion sickness on simulator rides). During this time, DS had a major diaper blow out and I literally ran for the Baby Care Center to change him. He spent the rest of the day pants-less.
Yes, he’s about to do what you think he’s about to do.

After he was all taken care of, DH, SIL, BIL, and I went on the Tower of Terror. Yay! I got to go on a ride! SIL and BIL had to leave to catch their plane so we went to have lunch at Sci-Fi with the cousins. Wow. It’s nice and dark, cool, and quiet in there. Good burgers, too.

After lunch, we all rode the Great Movie Ride and then it was time for the cousins to leave. We went to go watch Muppets 3-D, then headed back too, as I was still a little tired from the day before. We had cancelled our Fantasmic Dinner Pkg at the Brown Derby because DS made it clear he would not tolerate a show like that. We did it right at the 48 hour cut off so we had lost our table as a result. After another food court meal, we headed over to DTD one last time.
The ferry was one of DS’s favorite rides.

Day 9:
Once again, we woke up bright and early for our third and final character meal. DH happens to be in love with Mary Poppins. Out of the kindness of my heart (I hold a grudge against Mary Poppins dating back to the 1964 Oscars, but that’s a story for another day) I found out that MP made an appearance at 1900 Park Fair for breakfast and booked it. For DH, not DS, mind you. The buffet was smaller than the one at Chef Mickey’s and Crystal Palace, but decent nonetheless. This time, we met all the characters and DS took a liking to Mary Poppins himself.

Like father, like son.

We puttered around MK one last time, riding Pirates again and also TTA. DH rode Space Mountain while DS napped in the stroller. We bought DS some official Mickey ears.

This picture is slightly out of order. Ignore the lack of continuity of DS’s clothes. ;)

After a brief visit to our room to pack up a little, we headed to Epcot for our traditional last day dinner at Le Cellier. As usual, it was fantastic and we had a great time. I had the herb crusted prime rib while DH enjoyed the free range chicken.

Ok. It’s after dinner, about 7pm, on the last day of our trip. This is when DH decides he absolutely must join the ranks of the pin traders. We hiked over to that pin store in the middle of Future World so DH could buy his lanyard. He must have been mulling this over for days, because he had already claimed the bus pins from our resort gift shop for riding Magical Express. Armed with his four buses and a crash course in pin trading, we set out to trade pins. Now, I don’t know if you non-pin traders know this, but apparently you can’t trade a pin with a CM that the CM already has. Do you know how many people ride Magical Express? A lot. Do you know how many bus pins there are floating around out there? A lot more…we got two each. So trying to find a CM who did not have that stupid bus pin was quite a challenge. I’m not even going to tell you how many CMs we ran up to checking out their pins, but I’m happy to report that DH did manage to rid himself of three of the buses, keeping one for his collection.

Day 10:
We woke up and packed up the last of our things so bell services could take them. We ate our last Mickey waffle at the food court and waited for the Magical Express bus to take us back to the airport. Goodbye, Disney!

It’s always so sad coming home, even though 10 days is a LONG time to be at WDW with a one-year-old. We’re already planning another trip for 2007 and I hope you’ll all read my next report a year from now.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for posting your trip report. Lucas is so cute! I love reading reports about toddlers going to Disney because I have my heart set on taking Jack next October. He'll be 15 months. My Dh thinks that it's a bad idea, but I think it'll be fun.

Great job SL! Loved all the pictures- sorry that you didn't get to go on EE though...I liked how cool and dark Sci Fi was too, but I can't seem to convince anyone to try it again this next trip.

Great job SL! Lucas is so cute, I love the pictures. Sorry to hear about his diaper blowout!

your son is adorable! he looks like my boyfriend when he was a baby. sooo cute!

SL - I loved your trip report! Super job! :thumbsup2 Lucas is such a cutie! I bet all the CM's fell in love with him at Disney.

Great trip report SL! Sorry you didn't have such a good time at MNSSHP. DH and I went in 2003 and had a great time. Maybe it was b/c we weren't trying to navigate the park with a toddler in a stroller...

Wonderful report!!!! (Even though I'm a little nervous now about our next trip....DD will be 18 months....we've taken her three times already, but she was totally content in the stroller on those trips. Let's hope this next trip is the same!!!!)
:)

Great TR! OMG your son is sooo adorable!!!! I love the picture of him with Mary Poppins the best.

Great Trip Report! Where did you find that shirt??? Is it a personalized one. We are taking DS in January for his first trip and would LOVE a shirt like that. DH and I went alone last year w/o DS and found a "My First Mickey T-shirt", and now we both love the 1st Disney Trip one!! Thanks!! I enjoyed all your pics too!!!

SL,
What a great trip you had :) . We were in building 4 so I assume it wasn't the same slacking mousekeeper. I think I like the pic of Lucas and mommy at LeCellier the best :thumbsup2 . Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi, SL!

Loved your TR. I couldn't help noticing how similar and how different our trip this year was compared to yours. For example, we also had some obstacles and didn't get to ride EE. We tried to brave Fantasmic but left before it really had started well. It was just too late and Kylie was way too tired to sit through it. She isn't afraid of loud noises but she can't handle staying up late either. So I say good move on cancelling that!

Kylie loved the characters but when we did the CP lunch Tigger wasn't the one in the lobby. Piglet was. Thank God for that since Kylie fell in love with Tigger! ;) We have such priceless memories of Tigger playing with her. Piglet eventually made rounds too but she was not nearly as impressed by him as she was by Tigger. I also enjoyed the meal at Sci-Fi but dh says never again unless I just really, really want to or Kylie wants to. I loved the atmosphere in there myself. I am still so jealous that Donald made an appearance at CMs for you guys. Kylie loved ducks and Donald was one character we rarely saw. She loved him when we did get to see him one time but I really wished he would have been at CMs while we were there. Oh, well.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. I love all the pics. Lucas is as adorable as ever! There are so many I liked and it's hard to pick a favorite. But I do think the one of you and him at Le Cellier is priceless and I would cherish that mommy/son moment forever! :)
