Baby's First Birthday

What about a bead maze? My son has one and loves to move the beads around. You can get it at Target for like 15 dollars. Some of the really big lego blocks would be good too.

I too agree, books are great. We just purchased some NICE books at Borders in the Bargain Book area for our two grandsons. One is 10 mos. and the other is 5. They had some nice chunky books for the little ones and so much to choose from in that area for the children. We spent $30 and got quite a lot. Will give a few for Valentine's Day and save the others for Easter.

Baby signing time DVD's.. LOVED them! (We still watch occasionally). Great vocabulary builder!

I was just at 1-year-old's birthday party on Saturday - the thing the baby was most interested in was the books. She got several board books and cloth/soft books. One other person and I gave clothes (I found the cutest set from Old Navy for less than $15) and the mom seemed to appreciate the clothes a lot! She got toys too, but was most interested in the books . . . and the wrapping paper!

You can't miss with books. Seems like kids get so much junk, it's nice to give them things that build their little minds.
