2nd visit to DLP staying at Davy Crockett Ranch:3-6th May 2007

Me - 33 - love disney
OH - 37 - now a Disney convert
DD - just 5 years and a real princess
Nana - my mum - 63 - loves everything
Grandad - my dad - 65 and constantly needs feeding.

We left Manchester for our Air France plane journey which left on time at 9.20am. A very pleasant flight with complimentary hot/cold drinks and a croissant/pain au chocolate. Just over an hour later and we touch down at terminal 2F, quickly got the luggage and use a little broken French to find the hertz car rental desk to pick up our car.

Very quick service there and we get a free upgrade from a Peugeot 207 to a Renault scenic - hurrah. :cool1: OH is very pleased as it has sat nav installed. There is plenty of room for our luggage and the three of us in the back, 2 in the front and off we go to find Davy Crockett Ranch. To cut a long story short - we got lost and ended up having to ask a police office at a petrol station, got back on the motorway and found the correct turn-off - don’t know how we missed it in the first place actually. Madelane was getting very impatient with her daddy by this time as she was desperate to go to the parks. The weather was pure sunshine about 20 degrees.:goodvibes

It was now approx 1pm and we drove under the archway at the Ranch and I got chills. Drove to reception and we were the only car in the car park - the place was deserted. Grandad and me went to reception to collect our park passes and were greeted by 2 lovely CM’s who gave us all the info we needed including info about eating, the pool and our tea party tickets where we confirmed the booking for tomorrow at 5pm.

THEN IT WAS OFF TO THE PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eating our sandwiches and snacks on the way in the car to save time as we had been up since 6am

We parked in block A as it was pretty quiet and it was about 2.20 pm. We headed straight for Main street and fantasyland and straight onto the tea cups, with a few minutes wait, then it’s a small world where again we walked straight on. Madelane loved this ride last time. Next we walked over to Dumbo and Nana and Grandad and Madelane queued up whilst me and OH checked out the peter pan ride as we missed this last year and was on our ‘TO DO’ list. We then walked round to Casey junior ride and back to dumbo to take photos of them on the ride. When it was over - it seemed very short - we went over to ride the storybook cruise and then Casey junior which actually made my tum go a bit funny - im not a big ride person Madelane loved screaming along as we went round the corners.

After this we walked backover to peter pan and the wait time was 15 minutes so me, OH and Madelane queued and Nana went and bought ice-creams to while away the time when we were in the queue. It worked and she was quite happy eating her callippo and it lasted right up till we reached the flying boats. I had no idea what to expect from this ride but she loves peter pan so it could only have good reaction.
She enjoyed this ride and although it was abit jerky, I thought the concept of the ride was good. Can definitely see why it is a fast pass one. I also think the reason the ride was quiet was the parade was also on around this time as it seemed to be a bit delayed today

By now it was heading for after 5pm and we felt like we had already packed loads in so headed back to the car as we were all flagging a bit by now. Its quite a walk for a tired 5 year old back to the car park so on she went onto daddy’s shoulders We arrived back to the ranch for about 6pm where we walked in to collect our key. I was very happy that we were placed in Coyote Trail which is the nearest trail to the saloon, pool and shop etc. Cabin number 1513.

THE CABIN

Wow!! I was so impressed with the cabin. Clean, spacious with lovely warm bedding and fresh towels. Enough seating for us all and a dining table with 6 chairs. A double bedroom and bedroom with a set of bunk beds and lots of storage in each room. Separate bathroom and loo with toilet paper included and a welcome note to us. The TV was on the Disney channel in English and we had bbc world and eurosport so OH and my dad was happy. Madelane was happy with the Disney channel. Fully functioning fridge and coffee maker/microwave and dishwasher. We had no idea what to do for dinner so rang the reception desk to book a table in the tavern for dinner and they accommodated us within half an hour so that meant we would be eating at 7pm. We unloaded the car, had a quick cuppa with our home provisions that we had bought from the airport. There is a supermarket in CDG near the Hertz rental desk which sells everything you need to get you started.

At 7pm we drove up to the area where everything is and it was a lovely atmosphere with people sat outside in the sunshine. Bit short on parking for every cabin and cars were parked all over the place but we found a space. There is a stage area outside and a children’s park and the Alamo trading post.

We were seated after about 10 mins and the waiter explained to us that we pay before you eat as it is a buffet and we were seated overlooking the fab pool area which Madelane couldn’t wait to get into so we used this as a bribe for her to eat her dinner and then she could go in even though they were queuing out of the door to get into the pool.

DINNER
We paid 22euros each including a soft drink/water for the buffet and there was a lot of choice. You just grab a plate and of you go. There were salads, pasta dishes, to start with and then pizza, chips, lamb, chicken, chilli, couscous, rice, tacos, fresh veggies etc. For the kiddies there was chicken nuggets, fish shapes, spaghetti. I chose for Madelane a mixture of children’s and adults food.

The meal was nice and hot and filled the gap that we needed. For puddings there was again lots of choice, tarts, mousses, rice puddings, fresh fruit, fruit salad, jellies. We took a few pieces of fruit out with us too for Madelane to snack on incase we couldn’t buy fresh fruit from anywhere as last year we missed that.

After we had eaten we had promised Madelane that she could go swimming so OH and Grandad went back to the cabin for our swim gear and me and my mum and Madelane popped into the shop to get some provisions and thought the shop was very well stocked with the basics that you need, milk, bread, cheeses, fresh fruit, frozen meals, baby products, toilet paper etc etc etc, There were also characters around outside, 2 bears , Shakey and TIC, I think, who were doing photos and then went on stage to have a banjo contest and a dance,

We queued for about 10 mins to get in the pool by which time it was about 8.45 and it closes at 10.15pm. We were shown to a communal changing cubicle, like a family size one so we all had to et changed together which was a bit of weird choice for my OH who felt rather strange changing in front of his in-laws. We got 2 lockers which are free and then went in to the pool which holds approx 250 people. It was very busy but Madelane loved it and the water slide. We only stayed about 45 minutes as she was getting very tired. The changing experience when we got out was hilarious as none of the cubicles had locks on them and people were constantly barging the doors open while you were half naked and its all communal, male and female together. I ended up having to hold a towel up for my OH to change behind in the corridor as there were no cubicles left. He’s very shy!!!!

So we drove back to the cabin for a cuppa and got ready for bed. Madelane and me were in the bunk beds, nana and grandad in the double bedroom and OH on the double sofa bed cos of his snoring!!! We closed the outside shutters on the cabin and it really kept the light out and all fell asleep ready for our second day.

Our plan for tomorrow is for OH to run and get fast passes for Buzz and we will go to the meet and greet area to see who is there for approx 10.15am so alarms were set for 7.30am to be out of the cabin and on the road by 9.30am. Tomorrow will be the first morning that we get our ranch breakfast too.
