Does anyone know if the Babycare centers have kid-sized toilets?

Here's the more... We've just potty trained little one (daytime is all diapers) and we'll be at DW in 3 months... I was wondering if I should bring a potty seat for our room. I worry about her comfort for her #2s. Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

Yes, they do! My DD peed for the first time on one of those at DHS the other day. :) I can't help you with the second part.

my just turned 2 yr old ds used the regular potty in the rooms and at the parks when we were there. We either helped him hold himself up or he did it on his own...i guess use whatever your child is used to, our son is used to using the big potty....i dont remember all the baby care centers having the little toilets.

Ample time to get them used to using a regular toilet. Even if the baby centers do have little toilets you aren't going to be able to get a toddler from Toontown to the baby center in time when they say "I gotta go potty":lmao:

It is better to get them used to making do early because when you are out even in town, no one is going to have special toilets for them. One hint is have them sit on the seat sideways, especially on the split seats they have in most public places. You can also steady them on. In 3 months time I'm sure you will be hitting a lot of the bathrooms in all the stores or restaurants you go into but in case you don't make it a point to so they are used to going in all kind of different places before your trip.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:
I always had mine sit backwards, so that might work too (with my son that also cut down on the extra floor cleaning).

Oh, I haven't tried sitting backwards yet!

We have tried sitting sideways, but it hasn't been too successful for us.

A few times when we've been out and about using the potty, she asks me "Find a smaller potty, mommy?" =)

Thanks everyone!

Just make sure your child has had plenty of exposure to auto-flushing toilets! When we went last time my dd was 3 1/2 and completely potty trained, but she was completely freaked out by the "magic potties." It became a pretty big ordeal to use the bathroom -- find one, go in, kid cries a little because she's scared the potty might flush us away, line the seat, pants down, lift kid onto potty, kid cries a little more, lean forward and hold hand over the sensor till she's finished (which was less than comfy when you're pregnant and queasy and your back hurts and you're squeezed into a not-so-fresh-smelling bathroom stall!), jump up, pants up, press button because of course once you're off, the potty never flushes...!, then out to sink, hoist kid up to sink, find soap, struggle to get the water to come on, wash hands, dry hands, wash hands again because hands are still soapy, dry hands again, leave restroom...OMG, where's Daddy? He's riding Pirates of the Caribbean again because we took so long?! I am so mad! :headache: :headache: :headache:

Ah, the joys of being a mom of girls!! I'll actually be so relieved to have the little one still in diapers next time...!

I have to ask this question...for all those suggesting "sit backwards" on the toilet, how do you accomplish this without taking pants off??? And, is it REALLY easier and more sanitary to have your child take his pants and shoes off just to sit on the toilet backwards? I would never want my kid in socks on a WDW bathroom floor...ewww....

Just teach your child how to use the toilet the way it is. Practice going out and about. Kids are very good at making do and/or finding a way to make it work if they REALLY have to "go". When you will run into problems is if YOU try to make your kid "go". They will squirm and stuff if they don't really have to go.

I would suggest bringing a FOLDING STOOL (you can get one at Bed Bath and Beyond for $15...easy to pack in luggage) for your hotel room. No seat insert. With the stool, they will have much more independence in the bathroom and will have somewhere to brace against for #2. It's a lot easier for a toddler to hold the sides of the toilet if they have somewhere for their feet to go.

Out in public, if they have to go #2, just squat down in front of them and let them hold onto you.

I always bring a potty seat for a young one. My youngest this time is 4 and he has a hard time going on the big seats - whenever he needs to poop at a public toilet he never ends up actually going so I see no reason to make the trip difficult for him in this way and I definitely don't want to bring on any constipation issues because of him not wanting to use a big seat. Granted, we won't cart it around to the parks, but to me it's worth the luggage space.

In the end, each kid is different and you know your kid best.

For DD, I plan to take a little folding potty seat to put on top of the big toilets. It folds pretty small and will fit in the diaper bag that I have to carry around for DS anyway. I also noticed the other day that A Baby's Best Friend rents potty chairs on their website if anyone really needs/wants one for the hotel room.

I second just teaching your child to use the regular toliet the normal way. They really are pretty amazing at figuring out ways to use it if you give them the opportunity. My 2 year old can climb up on a regular-size toliet all by herself -- she just lifts herself up there with her hands. Also, she can sit on the toliet just fine without a kids toliet seat as long as she just spreads her legs really wide. I never taught her any of this -- she just wanted to do it "by myself" and she figured it out. Just like I figured out to open a locked bathroom stall from the outside when my "big girl" doing it "by herself" locked herself in. :)
