Hi all, anyone heard of doing a "baby swap"? I know it sounds bad!!!

I read somehwere that if you are travelling with a small child the CM will let one parent go on the ride and then swap with the the other parent without having to wait in the line the seconf time.

We are travlleing next week with our 1 year old and although we do not plan on doing allot of rides, DW and I would like to see Stiche's Great escape.

Anyone done this? Is it frowned upon?

Yes, baby swap is great. Each ride handles it differently so just ask the CM at the entrance to the ride.

Some rides give you a speical fastpass that is good all day for up to 3 people to be used by the other parent, some rides have you all go in line and swap at the ride and other rides have you swap at the exit of the ride.

Just ask at each ride!

The rides that have one person go in line and then bring out a ticket for the other one to swap are the rides in which the child is too short to ride.

We've done it many times. Check with CM in front of each ride, different processes at different ones.

And if you're going soon, I know last week they weren't doing it b/c there was no wait on anything anyways.

I have used the baby swap on my last two trips. The first, my son was 6 months old and we did quite a few. Last year when we went he was 3.5 and my daughter was celebrating her first birthday. When you get to the first CM, just tell him/her that you want to do a baby swap and they'll give you instructions. One parent stays with the child while the rest of the family rides -- then you switch.

Great, now you gave some programming executive the idea for a sequel to Wife Swap! :rolleyes1

We've done the baby swap many times & find it to be a wonderful concept! We have never been frowned upon because, from what I understand, it was developed by the park to help parents who want to ride, but can't ride together. We wait for our turn just like everyone else, except one of us has to wait a little longer. If anything, I feel bad for my DH when he has to wait for me to ride first. But then it's my turn to wait! Go for it and enjoy the rides. :teeth:

I have a question about swapping. My son will be tall enough to get on rides that my daughter will not be able to get on. So let's say DH and DS get on a ride while I wait with DD. When it's my turn do I ride by myself or will my DS get to ride again with me while DH takes DD?

Your son should be able to ride twice - if he wants to :)

I have read that up to 3 people can return with the baby swap idea. For example I was told that DH, DS 13, DS9 can ride a ride while I wait with DD 17 months, then myself and DS 13 and DS 9 can ride together. I hope this works because I'm sure my boys will love the extra rides on Splash and TOT etc :goodvibes

Thanks eveyone for their expereinces. Can't wait, we leave in three days.

Sorcerer Figment, I hope there won't be a new show called baby swap!!!

We will be doing this on the STITCH ride when we get there!! DD is only 9months and since i am 7months pregnant (when we go to WDW) i am looking forward to at least enjoying this one! haha...

Yep.
We did that many times on our last trip. DS10 and DD7 got to ride twice on the rides that DD4 and DD1 weren't big enough for. Once with me, and once with DW.

I'm so glad !!! My kids will love this! So can you sneak in even more rides with fast pass? Like can dh go with boys with fast pass, then swap and I ride with boys, then I fast pass with boys and swap again , or does everyone need a fast pass each time? Confusing? Or a cool way to geet in even more rides in a row?

Everyone needs a fastpass to do that. You can swap once. Then you all have to start the process all over again.

Like I said before each ride handles it differently. Some have a special fastpass good for up to 3 people. Some have you all go in the line and swap at the ride and others have you swap at the exit.

Ask at the entrance to the ride.

Most of the rides give you the "rider switch" pass at the entrance to the line. On most of these, they only asked us for FP's for the people riding first. So there are some tricky ways you can use it. Several times, we got FP's for 2 rides at the same time. Splash/BTMRR for example. We had 5 tickets (me, DW, DS10, DD7, DD4), so we'd get 2 FP's for Splash and 3 FP's for BTMRR. So DW and DS10 go on Splash with FP, then I take DS10 and DD7 on Splash with rider switch pass. Then DW, DS10, and DD7 go on BTMRR with FP, then I take DS10 and DD7 on BTMRR with rider switch pass.

You could do the same thing to ride the same ride multiple times since you only need to use FP's for the people who go first, not the people who do a baby swap after that.

We did this on stitch on our last visit. It is the only time I've ever done the baby swap. The guy was really nice and instructed us on what to do. My dd 11 and brother in law 13 got on with me. When we were done it was dh's turn they were going to let both kids get on again but neither really wanted to (they didn't like it), finally I convinced my bil to get on again with dh so he didn't have to ride alone.

This has worked out really well for us and by using it for the first time this year, we have gotten to go on rides we haven't been on it years. Plus my older son has been able to ride some of his favorites twice in a row.
