Ok, so there are four of us...me, DH, DD (5), DS (2). We have used rider switch before but only on the regular line. With Fastpass plus I was forced into choosing three rides, even though some of them I would probably just have gone through standby.

Can we use rider switch with fastpass so that DD gets to enjoy riding with both me and her daddy, albeit seperately? No flames please, I am not trying to be greedy, it's just that if we can't one of us has to ride solo on rides such as BTMRR etc.

Anyone done it?

Thanks

You just use it exactly the same as you do the rider swap except you go to the FP+ return line and scan your band, then they will give you the swap tickets and you can use the FP+ return line both times.

Our experience (and based on a recent thread on tpas board it seems to be more common now) is that you can do this but everyone entering the of line needs a fp booked. We were refused at space mountain, tot and rnrc since I did not have a fp for my smallest. It seems disney is cracking down on doubling up by at least ensuring everyone does have a fp to begin with. It does still appear to be a little at cm discretion but a thread yesterday said they are enforcing this more.

Just make sure you are all booked and you'll be fine.

I'm really confused when it comes to child swap. I've only used it at Universal, which is totally different, so I'm not sure how it works at Disney. When you say your smallest, you don't mean the child you're wanting child swap for, do you?

In our situation, what would I need to make sure both me and my husband could ride with my 14 year old son on separate occasions? My daughter is 3, so that's why we'd be needing child swap. Do just me, my husband and my son need FP+ to be booked? How would it work when my son went down the FP+ line a second time with him already having used his FP?

It is my understanding that they still give you a Child Swap ticket which is valid for you and up to 3 others. As long as you all have FP+ booked (except the child who is below the height limit) then you should be fine. The issue mentioned previously may have occurred if the child in question was tall enough to ride but just didn't want to - this is not technically what child swap is there for. You shouldn't be expected to have a FP+ for the child who is not riding though (if they don't meet the height requirement) as they wouldn't be able to use the FP+ anyway.

Thanks. It's usually just my husband that goes on with my son because I was never sure how it worked. This year I wanted to at least attempt some of the rides meant for over threes.

Yes if we wanted to utilise the fp line and rider swap all people in our group needed a fp. They said it's to crack down on abuse of the system. Particularly at epcot where people would book half the party a fp for soarin and half for tt then essentially fp both. It was around 50% success rate. Some cms allowed us no worries.

Counting down to 14th May!

It's ok I had already booked fast passes for all of us, I certainly don't want to abuse the system, just want a happy five year old who can ride with both parents :)

Could I ask a quick question (having never needed to use it before I'm a bit clueless), how does child swap work? Myself and my DH would like to ride some of the bigger rides separately (we will have our 18 month old son with us), so do we just book two fastpasses and take it in turns to use them or is there a different / better way of doing it?

OP - sorry to hijack thread it just got me wondering how the system worked :)

You would want to go get the card is just in case your hour window goes out before your husband gets back.

With the more strict method they will scan both bands and mark you both as arrived then hand whoever is staying back the card.

I will be new to this too with our new baby next time. I think it is going to be one of those things that sounds very complicated but might be ok in reality. I hope my eldest gets an extra ride or two!!

You eldest will get a few extra rides. When we took the little nephew the bigger niece and nephew loved that they got to ride everything twice once with mom and once with dad. Usually my BF or I are who stayed back with the littlest nephew so the older kids could ride with both parents.
