Baby Stollers!

Im new to the Board! And am Loving Everything I am reading so far. We are leaving May 18th 2008!!! So Exciting....Anyways to my Question...

What do you think of Baby Stollers. My daughter will be 19 months at the time we leave. We will have to bring the stroller (I guess for the Airport??) But should we bring it to the park or just rent one?

Renting one will cost you $10 per day, or $8 per day if you rent for the length of your trip (and prepay). Disney strollers are fine, but don't have the same storage you are probably used to having in your own.

Bring an umbrella type stroller with you. That way you'll have it in the airport and hotel as well as in the park. You may find its cheaper to buy an inexpensive one and just toss it when your trip is done than pay the $8-10/day to rent in the park.

Take a stroller. It will come in handy especially if your little one falls asleep. It is hard to get comfortable in the Disney strollers. We bought the Chicco CT-5 on our last trip and it was fabulous! It folds up nicely so it will fit under the seat on the busses. The seat reclines and the overall ride is great for a young one.

We've been posting about this topic on the Families Board.

I've been to WDW many times with our kids 4 & 2. The best thing to do is take a stroller that is lightweight, folds easily, reclines, has storage, and both parent and child trays. We purchased the Peg Pergo Aria and it's only 8 pounds. It has taken many a beating at the airport gate check and been around the parks countless times.

I'd advise against umbrella strollers as they don't recline or have storage.

I think we're in the minority, but DH and I LOVED the rental strollers at WDW. We used them for our then-24-month old and 4 1/2 year old in November. We thought they handled great, and the kids had plenty of room - they can "stretch out" their legs. The pouches in the back gave us plenty of room for water bottles, etc. We took Lightening McQueen bandanas to tie on to the handles, so we could spot our's easily after exiting a ride.

Now, I will say that if we hadn't been using WDW transportation to get from our hotel to the park, I might feel differently - if you park, you might have a long walk dragging a heavy kid. Also, it looks like our next trip will be with an infant - maybe even as young as five months - I don't think a really small child could use the strollers at all. Finally, my sister has kids the same age as mine, and she used umbrella strollers with success.

Has anyone bought the fold up strollers they have in the gift shops? Have a pic. and price? Will it hold a 45 lb. 6 year old?

Remember they raised the cost of renting a stroller. It is now $31 a day for a double/$27 a day for length of stay. Don't remember what a single is but it went up as well.
