Hi all!

I'm wondering if any of you got gifts for the hostess(es) of your baby showers and what did you get?

I'm having 3 showers and while my mom and SIL are easy to buy for, I'm struggling a bit with the co-workers who threw me a very nice shower.

Thanks!

Nope. Someone does something for you, I think a thank you is sufficient.

I've hosted quite a few different showers and never gotten a gift. At least here it's not the norm.

Good luck deciding. I wouldn't even know what to suggest, sorry.

I gave my hostess a $100 giftcard to Target. She LOVES Target, hosted the shower by herself (when my other friend who was going to host had an emergency and left the state suddenly.) She did such a great job and really picked up the ball and ran with it.

I gave my two close friends who threw my shower gift certificates for massages. If there's more than two or three, maybe offer to take them out to dinner as a thank you.

Or you could send them flowers.

(Hostess gifts are fairly normal, at least in my circle)

I've thrown lots of showers and never gotten anything from any of them. I didn't really mind. I do like a really heart felt thank you or a nice card to say thank you. More than the thank you text I got from the last one I threw...

Babyshowers can be really pricey to throw and can take a lot of time and energy. At least the ones I've thrown have been. Even with other people helping me I still end up spending a pretty penny on them. And I don't mind. I never offer unless I know I can afford it and have the time to do it and do it right.

I wouldn't put a lot of money into a hostess gift. Usually a hostess would rather you put your money towards the things you need for your baby. But something small that says thank you would definitely be appreciated.

Thanks everyone...I don't think gifts are the norm here either...I've never heard of it and no one mentioned it, but I was so overwhelmed with how much my boss and assistant spent that I really feel like I should do something, you know?

I guess the baby is gift enough for my mom and SIL--they're almost more excited than me! lol

Two of my MIL's friends threw a shower for me and my husband. Since I don't know them too well it was very generous, and I felt obligated to get them a little something. One I gave a decent bottle of wine (around $25) and the other a cookbook they had wanted (I asked MIL). Of course I also sent very nice thank you notes.

I am not planning on getting my sister and aunt gifts for my other shower. I wouldn't expect gifts from them if I threw them a shower. For my work shower I'm bringing in bagels for the hosts.

I bought my sister bath & body stuff. I brought flowers for my friend who threw me my 2nd shower which was smaller.

Since it is your co-workers and you wanted to do something, how about taking them out for lunch? Or, flowers or a plant?

:thumbsup2 I had never heard of "hostess gifts" for showers until I read it on here, I have hosted many and had two and in all there were no gifts other than a big thank you (which was enough!).
